Altering Boundaries of Ridings in certain Counties.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of February, 1885.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by section twenty-six of "The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is provided that if the boundaries of any road district or subdivision be altered, or if any new road district be constituted, or if any road district be merged in a county, or if any town district be formed or its boundaries altered, thus causing any one or more of the ridings of the county to be not in conformity with the provisions of section twenty-three of the said Act, then and in such case the Council shall, within three months from the happening of one or other of such events, pass a special order altering the ridings accordingly, and the provisions of sections twenty-four and twenty-five of the said Act shall, mutatis mutandis, apply thereto: And whereas those ridings of counties which are specified in the first column of the First Schedule hereto are not (for the reason specified in the second column of such Schedule opposite to the name of each such riding) now in conformity with the provisions of section twenty-three of the said Act, and no special order has with respect to the said ridings been passed by any County Council altering such ridings in terms of section twenty-six of the said Act: And whereas it appears expedient to make the alterations herein set forth with respect to the boundaries of the several ridings aforesaid:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby alter the boundaries of the said several ridings, and doth declare that, from and after the first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, the boundaries of the said ridings shall be those respectively set forth opposite the name of each such riding in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Name of Riding.

Reason for Alteration.

Mangapiko Riding, in the County of Waipa.

In consequence of (1) the Town District of Alexandra being deemed to be included in the County of Waipa, and (2) the Town District of Te Awamutu being partly in the Mangapiko Riding and partly in the Rangiaohia Riding.

Rangiaohia Riding, in the County of Waipa.

In consequence of the Town District of Te Awamutu being partly in the Rangiaohia Riding and partly in the Mangapiko Riding.

Port Levy Riding, in the County of Akaroa.

In consequence of alterations in the boundary between the Road Districts of Port Levy and Pigeon Bay.

Pigeon Bay Riding, in the County of Akaroa.

In consequence of alterations in the boundary between the Road Districts of Pigeon Bay and Port Levy.

Okain's Bay Riding, in the County of Akaroa.

In consequence of Le Bon's Bay Road District being partly in the Okain's Bay Riding and partly in the Wainui Riding.

Wainui Riding, in the County of Akaroa.

In consequence of Le Bon's Bay Road District being partly in the Okain's Bay Riding and partly in the Wainui Riding.

Lincoln Riding, in the County of Selwyn.

In consequence of the Tai Tapu Road District being severed from the County of Akaroa and joined to the County of Selwyn.

Ashburton Riding, in the County of Ashburton.

In consequence of the Town District of Tinwald being partly in the Ashburton Riding and partly in the Upper Ashburton Riding.

Upper Ashburton Riding, in the County of Ashburton.

In consequence of the Town District of Tinwald being partly in the Upper Ashburton Riding and partly in the Ashburton Riding.

Clinton Riding, in the County of Clutha.

In consequence of the Town District of Clinton not being a riding of itself, or not forming part of a riding.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Name of Riding.

Boundaries.

Mangapiko.

Comprises all that area known as the Mangapiko Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 42, 18th May, 1883, and the Town District of Alexandra, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 24, 9th March, 1882; exclusive of any part of the Town District of Te Awamutu, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 110, 3rd October, 1884.

Rangiaohia.

Comprises all that area known as the Rangiaohia Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 42, 18th May, 1883; and the Town District of Te Awamutu, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 110, 3rd October, 1884.

Port Levy.

Comprises all that area known as the Port Levy Road District, as described in a special order in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, 13th June, 1884.

Pigeon Bay.

Comprises all that area known as the Pigeon Bay Road District, as described in a special order in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, 13th June, 1884.

Okain's Bay.

Comprises all that area known as the Road Districts of Okain's Bay and Le Bon's Bay, as described in a special order in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, 13th June, 1884.

Wainui.

Comprises all that area known as the Town of Akaroa and Wainui Road District, as described in a special order in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, 13th June, 1884.

Lincoln.

Comprises all that area known as the Road Districts of Lincoln and Springs, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; and the Taitapu Road District, as described in a special order in the New Zealand Gazette No. 88, 1st August, 1884.

Ashburton.

Comprises all that area known as the Road Districts of Longbeach and Wakanui, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; and the Town District of Tinwald, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 118, 31st October, 1884.

Upper Ashburton.

Comprises all that area known as the Upper Ashburton Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; exclusive of any part of the Town District of Tinwald, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 118, 31st October, 1884.

Clinton.

Comprises all that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded towards the North-east by the Pomahaka Road District to Block LXXV., Clutha Survey District; thence towards the South-east by that block and Blocks LXXIV., LXXIII., and CII., Clutha Survey District aforesaid, to the Kaihiku Stream; thence again towards the South-east and towards the South-west by that stream and Run No. 72 to the Waiwera Stream; thence towards the North-west by that stream to the south-western boundary-line of the Popotuna Hundred; thence again towards the South-west by the said hundred to the western boundary-line of Section No. 13, Block III., Kuriwao Survey District; and thence towards the North-west by the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 13 aforesaid, 14, and 12, Block III. aforesaid, and of Sections Nos. 6, 4, 3, and 2, Block IV., Waipahi Survey District, and by the Wairuna Stream to the place of commencement.
