Exempted Land in Otago Mining District declared open for Mining Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by the seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the occupation of the land described in the Schedule hereto for mining purposes; provided that no person shall be allowed to occupy any portion of the said land without obtaining the sanction of the Warden of the district, and that the land shall be at all times worked to the satisfaction of the Warden, who shall have power to stop any works if he sees good reason for doing so.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing 600 acres, more or less, on Run 163, Takitimo District. Bounded on the North by Waiau River and Taylor’s Creek; on the North-east by Section No. 40, 100 chains, more or less; on the South by a creek; and on the West by Waiau River.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Land taken for a Road in Oteramika Road District, Provincial District of Otago.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a road in Oteramika Road District, Provincial District of Otago:

And whereas the Oteramika Road Board has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 16 perches, more or less, being portion of Section No. 16, Block VIII., Invercargill Hundred, Provincial District of Otago; commencing on the northern boundary of said section 1502·5 links from the north-eastern angle. Bounded—Northerly by a road, 103 links; Easterly by a line, 370 links; Southerly by a road, 48 and 61 links respectively; Westerly by a line, 352 links, to commencing point: be all the linkages either more or less; the same being more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11951, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington.
