Notice of Times and Places for Investigating Claims.
Native Land Court Office,
Auckland, 8th January, 1884.
WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in exercise of the power and authority in
that behalf vested in him by the provisions of "The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1883," did
by writing under his hand dated the twenty-fifth day of September, 1883, declare that certain parcels of
land therein mentioned should be thereafter deemed and taken to be lands held by the Native owners
according to Native customs or usages, and that it should be a duty of the Native Land Court of New
Zealand to investigate according and subject to its ordinary practice the titles to such lands, and to ascertain
who may be the owners thereof, according to Native customs or usages:
And whereas the island situate in the district of Auckland, known as Hauturu (the Little Barrier
Island), is one of the parcels of land the subject of the declaration aforesaid:
Now notice is hereby given that at a sitting of the Native Land Court to be held at Auckland on the
thirty-first day of January, 1884, the said Court will proceed to investigate and determine the title to the
said island.
