ovals are the obverse and reverse of an exhibition medal. On the ends of the ribbands on the respective left of the medal is the word “Prize,” and on the ends of the ribbands on the respective right of the medal is the word “Medal.” Superposed on the ribband in the centre oval-shaped space is a compound star with ornamental centre. On the ribband on the left of the star is the word “Trade,” and on the right the word “Mark.” The said “Mark” being printed in red, black, gold, and yellow; but the said firm claim the right to use the same in any colour or combination of colours.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALFRED DE LISSA, of 313, George Street, Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of ROBERT SPEAR HUDSON, of Bank Hall Street, Liverpool, in the County of Lancaster, and of West Bromwich, in the County of Stafford, both in England, Chemical Manufacturer, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description, viz.—

Description of Trade Marks.

No. 1 is the representation of a dolly and arm, on the left of which are the words “Trade Mark.” The mark is printed in black, but applicant uses the same in other colours, and claims the right to use it in any colours.

No. 2 is an oblong label divided into four portions, each portion being a lined oblong. The first portion contains printed matter, being applicant’s addresses; the second portion encloses an oval band bearing the words “Hudson’s Extract of Soap.” Within the band is a lined oval having an inward projection at the bottom; upon the projection is the word “Concentrated.” The words “Concentrated Extract of Soap,” being words commonly used in the trade, are varied by the substitution of other words common to the trade and descriptive of the goods to which the label is applied. Within the inner oval is the representation of a dolly and arm, and the words “Once used always used, Trade Mark.” At the four corners of the oblong are ornamentations. The third and fourth portions contain printed matter relating to the goods, and directions for use. The above-described label is printed in black and red on a white ground, but applicant uses the same in other colours, and claims the right to use it in any colour or combination of colours.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

Soap-extracts, dry soap, soap-powders, cleansing crystals, and other preparations for laundry purposes.

Application for the Registration of Three Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALFRED DE LISSA, of 313, George Street, Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of A. ROWLAND AND SONS, of 20, Hatton Garden, London, England, Merchant-Perfumers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description, viz. :—

Description of Trade Mark.

No. 1 is an oblong label with groundwork of wavy lines, upon which are four ornamental bands of lace-work. On the top band is a medallion bearing the head of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and the words “Under the patronage of the Courts of Europe;” on the second band are the words “Rowland’s Macassar Oil;” on the third band the words and abbreviation “For the Growth, Restoration, & For Beautifying the Human Hair, Price per Bottle;” and on the fourth band, on a tablet, the facsimile signature “A Rowland & Sons.” On the left of the second band is an oval composed of engine-turning, upon which is the representation of a seated woman having in her right hand a sprig, and supporting by her left hand a wand; on the right of the same band is another oval composed of lace-work, having thereon the name and address “A. Rowland & Sons, 20, Hatton Garden, London.” The above-described mark is printed in red and black, but applicants claim the right to use the same in any colour or combination of colours.

No. 2 is an oblong label with groundwork of lines. At the top is the representation of the Royal arms of England and floral decoration; at the bottom, on a pedestal, is the representation of three female figures; on the base of the pedestal is the facsimile signature “A. Rowland & Sons.” Proceeding from the base of the pedestal on either side, and extending to the top of the label, is floral and fanciful ornamentation intertwined with a ribband, a portion of which ribband is supported by two of the figures above mentioned. Upon the ribband are the words “Patronized by Her Majesty, The Shah of Persia, The Princess Esterhazy, and the several Courts of Europe, and renders the Skin Soft, Fair, and Blooming. London. No. 20, Hatton Garden, London.” Within the ornamentation are the words, “The Queen, the Royal Family. Rowland’s Kalydor, For Improving and Beautifying the Complexion; Eradicates all Cutaneous Eruptions. The above-described trade mark is printed in black, with the exception of the facsimile signature, which is in red; but the applicants claim the right to use the mark in any colour or combination of colours.

No. 3 is a circular label with border composed of concentric circles; upon the border are the words “A Pure Fragrant Powder, From Oriental Herbs. per Box.” Within the border is a tablet formed of lace-work, on which are the words “Rowland’s Odonto.” Above the tablet is the representation of a row of teeth, and below the tablet are the words “Or Pearl Dentifrice, for Preserving and Beautifying the Teeth and Gums.” The above-described mark is printed in black on a lavender ground, but the applicants claim the right to use the same in any colour or combination of colours.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

No. 1. Preparations for the hair.
No. 2. Preparations for the skin.
No. 3. Preparations for the teeth.

Revocation of Appointment of a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely :—

Port of Auckland.

The front portion of a four-storied building, constructed of concrete with slate roof, having a frontage to Albert Street, situate on part of Allotment 17, Section 17, on the plan of the City of Auckland, and known as

FIRTH’S BOND.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

—to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond.
