Appointing Polling-places for the Electoral District of St. Albans.
Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERVOIS,
Governor.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint, alter, and abolish polling-places for each electoral district within the limits thereof; and that after the issue of a writ for an election in any district, and until such election is over, no change shall be made in the polling-places appointed for such district unless such election cannot be held without some such change being made:
And whereas by warrant dated the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, the Governor appointed the Avon Road Board Office, Papanui Road, to be the principal polling-place, and Mr. Thomas Primrose Baber’s Store, Addington, to be a polling-place for the Electoral District of St. Albans:
And whereas the Avon Road Board Office has been removed to a building without the boundaries of the said electoral district, and the store of the said Thomas Primrose Baber is no longer available as a polling-place:
And whereas a writ was, on the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, issued, addressed to the Returning Officer for the said Electoral District of St. Albans, commanding him to proceed to the election of a member to serve in the House of Representatives for the said district; but such election cannot be held without the appointment of polling-places for the said electoral district:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the aforesaid polling-places, and I do hereby appoint
The Office of the Borough Council of St. Albans (principal), and
The National Mortgage and Agency Company’s Store, Addington,
