ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 187 acres 3 roods 32 perches, more or less, being the block of land called or known as the Whawhatiwahine Block, situated in the District of Wairarapa.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland, this twenty-second day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

ALL that piece of land situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing 4 acres, more or less, situated in the Parish of Waiotahi, in the Whakatane Survey District, and being Allotment No. 280, and also being the whole of the land comprised in the Crown grant recorded in Volume xviii., folio 187, of the Register-book at Auckland.

All that piece of land situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing 5 acres and 3 roods, more or less, situated in the Parish of Waiotahi, in the Whakatane Survey District, being Allotment No. 285, and being the whole of the land comprised in the Crown grant recorded in Volume xviii., folio 195, of the Register-book at Auckland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of April, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER FOR NATIVE AFFAIRS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the portion of the Puatahi-West Coast Road shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 11302, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that road-line, of an average width of 100 links, intersecting the Puatahi Native Reserve, Hoteo Block, Tauhoa Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing approximately 13 acres 2 roods, more or less, commencing at a point on the south-eastern boundary of the Puatahi Native Reserve aforesaid distant 5150 links from the Hoteo River, and running thence in a north-westerly direction, 2500 links; thence running in a north-easterly direction through the Puatahi Native Settlement, 11000 links, to the Hoteo Bridge: be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11302, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
