Meeting of the General Assembly for the Despatch of Business.

To the LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS of the Colony of New Zealand and the MEMBERS elected to serve in the HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES of the said Colony, and to every of you—GREETING:
A PROCLAMATION.
KNOW YE that I, being desirous that the General Assembly of New Zealand should be helden as soon as may be, do hereby summon and call together the said General Assembly, commanding and by the tenor of these presents enjoining you and each of you, and all others in this behalf interested, that on THURSDAY, the SEVENTH day of the month of AUGUST next, personally you be and appear, for the DESPATCH OF BUSINESS, at Two o’clock in the afternoon, in the Parliament Houses, situate in Molesworth Street, in the City of Wellington, there to take into consideration the state and welfare of the said Colony of New Zealand, and therein to do as may seem necessary.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

WHEREAS by “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor may appoint such Returning Officers, Clerks, and other officers as may be required to carry the provisions of the said Act into execution, and that every person so appointed shall hold office during the Governor’s pleasure:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint the under-mentioned persons to be Returning Officers for the election of Members of the House of Representatives for the electoral district placed opposite to their respective names:—
