WALTER MILLER, Jun., to be an Inspector of Sheep in and for the several subdivisions of all sheep districts in the colony, from the 1st July, 1883; and also to be Deputy Cattle Inspector in and for all cattle districts in the colony, from the same date; vice C. K. Roskruge, retired.
Inspector WILLIAM GILBERT REES, from the Otago District, to the charge of the South Canterbury Subdivision, from the 1st July, 1883, vice James Macdonald, retired.
CHARLES SHAW to be an Inspector of Sheep for the Dunstan Subdivision, and in and for the several subdivisions of all sheep districts in the colony, from the 1st July, 1883, vice Inspector Rees, transferred to Timaru.
THOMAS TUDOR WILLIAMS MACKAY to be an Inspector of Sheep for the Tapanui Subdivision, and in and for the several subdivisions of all sheep districts in the colony, from the 1st January, 1884, vice H. A. MacShane, deceased.

NOTICE is hereby given, under section 10 of "The Sheep Act, 1878," that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to determine that all that tract of land now in the occupation of Messrs. Alexander Higgie and Abbot Brothers respectively, being partly in the Rangitikei and partly in the Wanganui Sheep District, shall be included in the Rangitikei Sheep District.

THE following Hydrographical Notes, received from the Commodore Commanding the Australian Station, Sydney, are published for general information.

HYDROGRAPHICAL NOTES.
Place and subject of correction: Kelso Bank. Position: 24° 16' S., 159° 27' E.; shoalest part struck, 11 fathoms. Admiralty chart: No. 780. Sailing directions: Page 411 (? 847), Australian Directory, Part II. Remarks: Least water obtained, 11 fathoms, sand coral, but no search was made for shoal spots. There is probably less. The 11 fathoms appeared to be near the south-east part of the bank, which is some miles in extent.
Place and subject of correction: Coal Heap, Ugi Island. Position: 10° 15' 9" S., 161° 44' 3" E.; variation observed, 7° 54' E. Admiralty chart: Nos. 214, 780. Remarks: There is no shoal water in the spot reported by Mr. Ebury, master of the "Adventurer."
The original observations proving the above, and for discussion with the observations of other surveying ships, have been sent direct to the Hydrographer of the Admiralty.
Place and subject of correction: Aneiteum Island, New Hebrides. Position: Lat. 20° 16' S., long. 169° 50' E. Admiralty charts: Nos. 2904 and 1380. Sailing directions;
