meeting shall be held on Monday, the ninth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
-
Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, or
by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
at such meeting. -
Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
meeting may be adjourned from time to time. -
The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
his successor. -
If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
such meeting. -
If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chair-
man. -
All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

land, Hawke's Bay, and Nelson.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section
of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or parti-
cular description, and whether the same has been surveyed
or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that
the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown
lands which in his opinion are required for any of the pur-
poses in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke's Bay, and Nelson,
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the pur-
poses in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL those parcels of land in the Provincial District of Auck-
land, containing by admeasurement 6 acres and 14 perches,
more or less, and known as Allotments Nos. 229, 230, 231,
232, 233, 234, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, 250, 251, 252,
253, 254, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, and 260 of Section No. 1, of
the Town of Opotiki, in the Parish of Waioeka, in the
Opotiki Survey District :—
Allotments Nos. 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, and 250,
containing 2 acres and 14 perches, more or less : Bounded
towards the North by Albert Street, 670 links ; towards the
East by the Otara River ; towards the South by Victoria
Street, 170 links ; towards the West by Allotment No. 242,
250 links ; again towards the South by Allotments Nos. 242,
241, 240, and 259, 400 links ; and again towards the West by
Vogel Street, 250 links.
Allotments Nos. 229, 230, 231, 232, 233, 234, 251, 252, 253,
254, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, and 260, containing 4 acres,
more or less : Bounded towards the North by Albert Street,
1000 links ; towards the East by Vogel Street, 250 links ;
towards the South by Allotments Nos. 238, 237, 236, and
235, 400 links ; again towards the East by Allotment No.
235 aforesaid, 250 links ; again towards the South by Victoria
Street, 600 links ; and towards the West by St. John Street,
500 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For
an agricultural and pastoral society’s show-ground.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auck-
land, containing by admeasurement 56 acres, more or less,
and known as Section No. 1, Block V., Omapere Survey
District. Bounded towards the North by the Whakane-
keneke River ; towards the East by Section No. 2 of Block
V. aforesaid, 3470 links ; towards the South by Section No. 3
of Block V. aforesaid, 2420 links ; towards the North-west
by a line, 1756 links ; towards the South-west by a line, the
crossing of a road, and a line, 1270 links ; and again towards
the North-west by the Waihou River : be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less ; save and excepting a road 100 links
wide which intersects the area hereby described. For an
experimental farm.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auck-
land, containing by admeasurement 65 acres and 31 perches,
more or less, and known as Section No. 2, Block V., Omapere
Survey District. Bounded towards the North by the Wha-
kanekeke River ; towards the North-east by lines 393
links and 473 links, the crossing of a road 100 links wide,
and by lines 114 links and 700 links ; towards the South-east
by a line, 457 links ; towards the East generally by a line
65 links, the crossing of a road 100 links wide, and by the
same road 220 links, 400 links, 463 links, 307 links, and 255
links ; towards the South by Section No. 3 of Block V. afore-
said, 1966 links ; and towards the West by Section No. 1 of
the same block, 3470 links : be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less ; save and excepting a road 100 links wide
which intersects the area hereby described. For an experi-
mental farm.
HAWKE’S BAY.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Hawke’s Bay, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more
or less, situated in the Takapau Survey District, and being
Section No. 19 of Block IX. of said district. Bounded
towards the North-east by Section No. 18 of said block,
827·2 links ; towards the South-east by Sections Nos. 21 and
20 respectively of same block, 952·7 links ; and towards the
North-west by a public road, 1309·9 links : be all the afore-
said linkages more or less. For a reserve for primary
education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 37 perches,
more or less, situate in the Takapau Survey District, and
being Section No. 15 of Block IX. of said district. Bounded
towards the North-east by Section No. 14 of said block,
1001 links ; towards the South-east by Section No. 24 of
same block, 446·2 links ; towards the South-west by a public
road, 1001 links ; and towards the North-west by a public
road, 449 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
For a reserve for primary education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 60 acres 2 roods 36
perches, more or less, situate in the Takapau Survey Dis-
trict, and being Section No. 26 of Block IX. of said district.
Bounded towards the North-east by the Makatoku Stream ;
towards the South-east by Section No. 63 of said block,
2848·5 links ; towards the South-west by Section No. 27 of
same block, 2677·1 links ; and towards the North-west by a
public road, 2346·1 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more
or less. For a reserve for primary education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 20 acres, more or less,
situate in the Takapau Survey District, and being Section
No. 44 of Block IX. of said district. Bounded towards the
North-east by Sections Nos. 46 and 45 respectively of same
block, 1965·9 links ; towards the South-east by Section No.
41 of same block, 1121·4 links ; towards the South-west by
Section No. 43 of same block, 1965·9 links ; and towards the
North-west by a public road, 1121·4 links : be all the afore-
said linkages more or less. For a reserve for primary
education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 15 acres 1 rood 24
perches, more or less, situate in the Takapau Survey District,
and being Section No. 52 of Block IX. of said district.
Bounded towards the North-east by a public road, 770 links ;
towards the South-east by Sections Nos. 49, 50, and 51
respectively of said block, 2000 links ; towards the South-west
by Section No. 55 of same block, 770 links ; and towards the
North-west by Section No. 53 of same block, 2000 links : be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a reserve for
primary education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 40 acres 1 rood 19 perches,
more or less, situate in the Norsewood Survey District, and
being Section No. 30 of Block VI. of said district. Bounded
towards the North-east by a public road, 3016·7 links ;
towards the South-east by Section No. 125 of Block V., Taka-
pau Survey District, 2130·6 links ; towards the South-west by
Section No. 28 of Block VI., Norsewood, 1811·5 links ; and
towards the North-west by Section No. 29 of same block,
3021·5 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For
a reserve for primary education.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less,
being Sections Nos. 36 and 37 of Block IV. in the Village of
Danevirk. Bounded towards the North by Alexandra Street,
250 links ; towards the East by the main road, 200 links ;
towards the South by Section No. 38 of said block, 250 links ;
and towards the West by Section No. 43 of said block, 200
links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a police
station and courthouse reserve.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 22·3 perches,
more or less, being Sections Nos. 40 and 41 of Block IV.,
