A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by section thirty-two of “The Counties Acts Amendment Act, 1883,” and at the request of the Selwyn County Council, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be a water-race, as defined by section thirty-one of the said Act, to be known by the name of the “Greendale Water-race;” and, further, that the River Hawkins, in the County of Selwyn, shall be a stream which may be taken for the purpose of supplying the said water-race.
SCHEDULE.
GREENDALE WATER-RACE.
ALL that area, 50 links in width, situate in the Hawkins Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at the right bank of the Hawkins River, in the block of Sections Nos. 3838 to 4119, and proceeding in a generally south-westerly direction intersecting the said sections to and across the Homebush and Coal Road to the eastern boundary of Section No. 1232; thence south-easterly generally intersecting Sections Nos. 3838 to 4119 aforesaid to the junction of the said Homebush and Coal Road and the Auchenflower Road; thence along the latter road and intersecting Sections Nos. 3838 to 4119 aforesaid and Section No. 15509 to the north-eastern corner of Reserve No. 986 (in red); thence along the eastern boundary of that reserve and intersecting Sections Nos. 16465, 16466, 17857, 21160, 22981, 22924, 21159, 21596, 22063, 22062, and the Whitecliffs Railway Reserve; and thence intersecting Sections Nos. 22080, 22081, and 24093 to the north-western corner of Section No. 15631.
BRANCH RACE No. 1.
All that area, 50 links in width, situate in the Hawkins Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at the north-western corner of Section No. 15631, and proceeding southerly intersecting the said section and Sections Nos. 17910 and 15629 to Section No. 17102; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section to its north-eastern corner; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of Section No. 17102 aforesaid for a distance of 30 chains, more or less; thence in a south-easterly direction intersecting Section No. 20351 and Reserve No. 933 (in red); thence in an easterly direction to and along the southern boundary of Reserve No. 934 for a distance of 60 chains, more or less; thence in a south-easterly direction intersecting Sections Nos. 12510, 20267, 23025, and 20726; thence in a southerly direction intersecting Sections Nos. 20265, 20266, 27745, 15556, 14540, 13579, 9243, Reserve No. 730 (in red), Section No. 9832, and Reserve No. 722 (in red) to its southern boundary.
BRANCH RACE No. 2.
All that area, 50 links in width, situate in the Hawkins Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at the north-western corner of Section No. 15631, and proceeding easterly intersecting Sections Nos. 15631 aforesaid, 11536, 17910, 15629, 21101, 15628, 26441, and 15627; thence in a south-easterly direction intersecting Reserve No. 933 (in red), Sections Nos. 29828, 15684, 9895, and 9906; thence in a southerly direction intersecting Sections Nos. 15487, 14394, 14393, 14404, 18629, 20720, 14402, 14495, 14403, 15189, 10037, 9244, 9128, 9125, and 9098 to its southern boundary.
BRANCH RACE No. 3.
All that area, 50 links in width, situate in the Hawkins Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at Branch Race No. 2, in Section No. 9128, and proceeding in an easterly direction intersecting Sections Nos. 9565 and 9309 to its southern boundary; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of the last-mentioned section for a distance of 30 chains, more or less; thence south-westerly intersecting Sections Nos. 9566, 13694, 9123, and 9122 to the northern boundary of Section No. 8956; thence southerly and easterly intersecting the said Section No. 8956; and thence easterly intersecting Sections No. 11009, 8483, and 8482 to the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section.
