I, THE undersigned, Clerk of the Patea County Council, hereby certify that the following special order was duly passed by the said Council at its meeting held on the 3rd April last, and that the requirements of the Act have been duly complied with.

That the Whenuakura Road District be proclaimed a new road district; number of members, four.

Boundaries of Whenuakura Road District.

Bounded on the North-west by the provincial district boundary-line between Taranaki and Wellington from the sea to its intersection with the Whenuakura River; thence on the South-east by the Whenuakura River to the sea; thence along the coast to the said provincial district boundary-line.

THE following special order, made by the Selwyn County Council under “The Counties Acts Amendment Act, 1883,” is published in accordance with “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 28th day of February, 1884, the Governor declared the Malvern Water-race to be subject to the provisions of “The Counties Acts Amendment Act, 1883,” as from the 1st day of March, 1884: And whereas in pursuance of section 34 of the said Act a petition has been presented to the Council of the County of Selwyn, praying the Council, by special order, to declare the part of the said county therein described to be a district for the purposes of the part of the said Act which relates to water supply: Now, therefore, the Council of the said county, in pursuance and exercise of the power given to it by the said Act, and of every other power in anywise enabling it, doth hereby ordain and declare that the part of the said county which is described in the Schedule hereunder written shall, from and after the day on which this special order shall be gazetted, be a district for the purposes declared and expressed in and by the said part of the said Act (being sections 30 to 50 both inclusive); and that such district shall be known by the name of the Malvern Water-race District.

Schedule above referred to.

All that area of land in the County of Selwyn, Provincial District of Canterbury, commencing at the south-west corner of Reserve No. 1798; thence to the western corner of Reserve No. 1824; thence along the southern boundary of Reserve No. 1824 to the Coal Tramway Reserve (Rolleston to the River Kowai); thence along the southern side of the Coal Tramway Reserve in an easterly direction to the Little Racecourse Hill and Kowai Road; thence to the south-western corner of Section 8498; thence along the western boundary of Section 8498 to the north-western corner thereof; thence along the northern boundary of Sections 8498, 4318, and 8497 to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the eastern boundary of Section 8497 in a straight line to the south side of the Coal Tramway Reserve; thence along the south side of that reserve to the north-western corner of Reserve No. 1322; thence along the western boundary of that reserve in a straight line to the south side of the Racecourse Hill and Kowai Road; thence along the south side of the Racecourse Hill and Kowai Road to the Home Bush and Coalgate Road; thence along the eastern side of the Home Bush and Coalgate Road to the left bank of the River Hawkins; thence along the left bank of the River Hawkins to its junction with the River Selwyn; thence along the left bank of the River Selwyn to the South Railway Reserve; thence along the north side of the South Railway Reserve to the south-western corner of Reserve No. 1159; thence along the western and northern boundaries of that reserve to the south-western corner of Reserve No. 1176; thence along the western and northern boundaries of that reserve to the Sandy Knolls Road; thence along the western side of the Sandy Knolls Road in a northerly direction to the north-eastern corner of Section 6530; thence along the northern boundary of Sections 6530 and 6531 to the south-western corner of Section 6282; thence along the western boundary of Section 6282 to the Halkett Road; thence along the south side of the Halkett Road to the southern corner of Section 8752; thence along the eastern boundary of Sections 8752, 9917, 12536, and Reserve No. 1053, through Reserve No. 947, to the right bank of the River Waimakiriri; thence westerly along the right bank of the River Waimakiriri to its junction with the River Kowai; thence along the right bank of the River Kowai to the north-western corner of Section 31544; thence along the western boundary of Section 31544 and Reserve No. 1798 to the commencing point.

Made by the Council of the County of Selwyn, at the chambers of the said Council, in the City of Christchurch, this 12th day of April, 1884.
