lished in the New Zealand Gazette of the fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the general regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth order and declare that such regulation shall be read and construed as part of the general regulations so published as aforesaid, and shall take effect from the twenty-eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

SCHEDULE.

  1. EVERY person being thereunto liable who shall neglect or refuse to pay on demand by an Inspector the cost, as required by Regulation 26, of all expenses under these regulations, shall, for every day during which such neglect or refusal shall continue, forfeit and pay a penalty of £25.

Provided, however, that the Resident Magistrate, or any two or more Justices before whom such penalty, or any penalty imposed by these regulations, is sought to be recovered, may, if he or they think fit, order a part only of such penalty to be paid.

Additional General Regulations under “Diseased Cattle Act, 1881.”—Notice No. 159.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this third day of April, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred on him by “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the general regulations numbered one to four inclusive, and set forth in the Schedule hereto, such regulations being additional to the general regulations made by an Order in Council of the thirteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four; and doth order and declare that such additional regulations shall take effect from and after the twenty-eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATIONS.

  1. No Inspector shall authorise any cattle brought by sea from any place in any of the Australasian Colonies to be introduced into New Zealand, unless the certificate of the Inspector or other officer charged with the execution of the law relating to the prevention of diseases among cattle in the place whence the same are brought, that the same are the produce of such colony, or have performed a quarantine of not less than thirty days therein and been found free from disease, be produced to him, together with a certificate of the master of the vessel in which such cattle are introduced indorsed thereon that such vessel has not during the preceding six months been in any port outside the Australasian Colonies, or received on board cattle from any place outside the Australasian Colonies, or from any vessel which during the six months preceding such reception has been in any port outside the Australasian Colonies.

  2. If any cattle brought by sea from any of the Australasian Colonies be not the produce of such colony, and have not been depastured in such colony for a period of ninety days, or have not performed a quarantine of not less than thirty days therein, and been pronounced free from disease, such cattle, for the purpose of these regulations, shall be deemed to have been shipped at a port outside the Australasian Colonies.

  3. No Inspector shall authorise any dogs brought by sea from any place in any of the Australasian Colonies to be introduced into New Zealand under the provisions of any regulations made under the provisions of the said “Diseased Cattle Act, 1881,” unless a certificate of the Inspector or other officer charged with the execution of the law relating to the prevention of diseases among dogs in the place whence the same are brought, that the same are the produce of such colony, or have performed a quarantine of not less than six months therein and been found free from disease, be produced to him, together with a certificate of the master of the vessel in which such dogs are introduced indorsed thereon that such vessel has not during the preceding six months been in any port outside the Australasian Colonies, or received on board dogs from any place outside the Australasian Colonies, or from any vessel which during the six months preceding such reception has been in any port outside the Australasian Colonies.

  4. If any dogs brought by sea from any of the Australasian Colonies be not the produce of such colony, and have not been kept in such colony for a period of six months, or have not performed a quarantine of six months therein and been pronounced free from disease, such dogs, for the purpose of such last-mentioned regulations, shall be deemed to have been shipped at a port outside the Australasian Colonies.

Fixing Sitting of Court of Appeal.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of April, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF LANDS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by “The Court of Appeal Act, 1882,” it is enacted that the Court shall hold its sittings at such times and places as shall be from time to time fixed by the Governor in Council, and proclaimed in the Government Gazette twenty-one days at least before the time so fixed respectively:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix that a sitting of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand shall be held within the Supreme Courthouse, in the City of Wellington, upon Monday, the twelfth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon.

Fixing Sittings of District Court of Wairarapa.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of Wairarapa, for civil business, shall be held as follows:—

In the Courthouse, at Masterton, on the fourth Wednesday in March, June, and September, and the second Wednesday in December.

Provided that, in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be held on the first day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Fixing Shooting Season for Native and Imported Game, License Fee, &c., Tauranga District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and quail (excepting mountain quail) may be taken or killed within the Tauranga District, comprising the Counties of Tauranga, Whakatane, and East Taupo, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmasters at Tauranga and Opotiki are hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
