A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a road in Wallace County, Provincial District of Otago:
And whereas the Wallace County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 17 acres 2 roods 2 perches, being portions of Sections Nos. 149 and 102, Taringatura District, Provincial District of Otago, commencing at a point being the north-western corner of Section No. 149 aforesaid. Bounded as follows: Westerly by a line, 94 links; South-easterly by lines, 656, 6200, and 1079 links respectively; North-westerly by a public road 346 links, and by lines 709 and 5154 links respectively; North-easterly by a line, 1265 links; Westerly by a line, 263 links; South-westerly by a line, 1071 links; North-westerly by lines, 775 and 399 links respectively; Westerly by a line to commencing point, 245 links: be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11243, attached to the memorial above referred to.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland, this first day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” section twenty-one, it is enacted that, if not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of a borough petition the Governor, praying him to divide such borough into wards, the Governor may, by Proclamation, divide such borough into not less than three nor more than six wards, and shall in such Proclamation assign such names and boundaries to each ward as he thinks fit: And whereas not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of the Borough of Palmerston North have petitioned me to divide such borough into wards:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the hereinbefore recited authority, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Borough of Palmerston North shall be and the same is hereby divided into four wards, with the names and boundaries set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
WARD NO. 1.
Bounded towards the North-east by the north-eastern boundary-line of the Borough of Palmerston North; towards the East and South by the Manawatu River; towards the South-west by a line along the middle of Fitzherbert Street, and that line produced to the middle of the Public Square; and thence towards the North-west by a line to and along the middle of Main Street.
WARD NO. 2.
Bounded towards the North-east by the north-eastern boundary-line of the Borough of Palmerston North; towards the South-east by Ward No. 1, hereinbefore described; towards the South-west by a line to and along the middle of Rangitikei Road; and towards the North-west by the north-western boundary-line of the said Borough of Palmerston North.
