ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of March, 1884.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it appears to the Governor that burials in the cemetery adjoining the Cliff Road, in the Borough of Tauranga, should be wholly discontinued: And whereas a sufficient cemetery not within the limits of any borough or town district has been provided and has been prepared for the interment of the dead as required by “The Cemeteries Act, 1882:”
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, and in pursuance of the authorities vested in him by the said “Cemeteries Act, 1882,” doth hereby order and direct that, from and after the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, burials within the cemetery adjoining the Cliff Road, in the Borough of Tauranga, shall be wholly discontinued.

WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time alter the limits of any Native licensing districts or abolish the same: And whereas it is expedient to abolish the Native Licensing District of Upper Wanganui:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby abolish, from and after the first day of April next, the said Native Licensing District of Upper Wanganui.

Authorizing Sale of Land, Provincial District of Canterbury.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1883,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the sale of the under-mentioned lands, in lots numbered from one to twenty-four, as delineated on the plans in the Land Office at Christchurch, subject to the provisions of sections one hundred and fifty-three and one hundred and sixty-four of “The Land Act, 1877,” namely,—
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement three hundred and one acres, more or less, being the strip of land three chains wide extending from the southern bank of the River Waipara in a southerly direction to Reserve number one hundred and nineteen (in red); as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch: save and excepting so much of the above-described area as may be required for the purposes of public roads or railways.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Setting apart Land as an Endowment for Thames High School.

WHEREAS by “The Thames Boys’ and Girls’ High School Act, 1878,” it is enacted that, out of the lands comprised within the block of land known as the Te Aroha Block, in the Provincial District of Auckland, the Governor may set apart any block or blocks not exceeding in value ten thousand pounds, and shall grant the same to the Thames High School Board as an endowment for the Thames High School:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was marked on the survey plans of the Te Aroha Block as having been selected as an endowment for the Thames High School, in terms of the hereinbefore in part recited Act, such land being at the time of its selection of a value not exceeding ten thousand pounds:
And whereas it is expedient to set apart the land so selected as an endowment for the Thames High School aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the sixth section of the hereinbefore in part recited Act, do hereby set apart, out of the land comprised within the block of land known as the Te Aroha Block, in the Provincial District of Auckland, the land described in the Schedule hereto as an endowment for the Thames High School.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land being Section 1 of Block XII., Aroha Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing by admeasurement 3,394 acres, more or less. Commencing at the south-eastern angle of Section 14, Block IX., Aroha Survey District, and bounded thence towards the South-west by said section, 1477 links; towards the North by a line, 22317 links; towards the East by a line, 11139 links; towards the South-east by Section 28, Block XII., Aroha Survey District, 6042 links and 9140 links, the crossing of a road 100 links wide, and again by Section 28, 3314 links; towards the South-west by a road reserve 100 links wide along the Waihou River; and towards the North-west by a public road 1209 links, the crossing of a road 100 links wide, and Section 14 of Block IX. aforesaid 6600 links to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; save and excepting two roads 100 links wide out of the area hereinbefore described.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, and Nelson, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being the northern portion of Section No. 34 of Block II. of the Wairere Survey District. Bounded towards the North-east by the southern portion of Section No. 34, 1042 links; towards the South-east by the southern portion of Section No. 34 aforesaid, 489 links; towards the South-west by the southern portion of Section No. 34 aforesaid, 1004 links; and towards the North-west by a road-line, 488 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a school site.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 24 acres and 30 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks VI. and VII., Mahurangi Survey District, being Section No. 96D, Parish of Mahurangi. Bounded towards the North-east by Section No. 97, 1755 links; towards the South-east by Section No. 50, 1392 links; towards the South-west by Section No. 96A, 1747 links; and towards the North-west by Section No. 96B, 1392 links: save and excepting a road 100 links wide which intersects the area hereby described; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For an agricultural and pastoral society’s show-ground.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 9 acres 3 roods 4 perches,
