Java, Mauritius, and Islands of Eastern Archipelago declared Infected Places under “The Public Health Act, 1876.”

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of section ninety-two of “The Public Health Act, 1876,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and notify that the island of Java and the islands of the Eastern Archipelago are infected with the disease called cholera, and that the Mauritius is infected with the disease called small-pox, being infectious or contagious diseases highly dangerous to the health of the people.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the Wellington-Napier Railway (Kopuaranga Contract).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Wellington-Napier Railway is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorizing the construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in Section No. 67, Block V., Kopuaranga Survey District, the said point being the termination of a portion of the railway, as described in a Proclamation dated the 2nd April, 1883, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 29, of the 5th April, 1883; proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 8 miles 9 chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands: Kopuaranga Survey Block V., Sections Nos. 67, 68, 49, 50, 26, 51, 11, 52, 79, and 201 respectively; Block I., Sections Nos. 202, 78, 65, and 60 respectively; and terminating at a point in the Mangaone Survey District on the Kopuaranga River above 3 miles 46 chains north of Section 57, Block I., Kopuaranga Survey District; all within the Wairarapa East County, Provincial District of Wellington: including all intervening places, lands, roads, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the manner delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11059, signed by the Hon. Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for Public Works, and deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington; the total length being 8 miles 9 chains or thereabouts.
