Special Order made by Bay of Islands County Council.—Alteration of Ridings.

THE following special order, made by the Bay of Islands County Council, is published in accordance with “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882.”
THOMAS DICK.
In the matter of “The Counties Act, 1876,” and the amendments thereof, and in the matter of the division of the Waimate Riding of the Bay of Islands County into two ridings.
WHEREAS by “The Counties Act, 1876,” it is, among other things, enacted that the Council may from time to time, by special order, alter the number of the ridings within the county and the names and boundaries thereof, and may from time to time, by special order, alter the number of the Council and the number of Councillors to be elected by each riding, as it thinks fit: And whereas the Bay of Islands County Council did, at a meeting held on the twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, upon a petition presented to the said Council signed by at least three-fifths of the county electors of the Waimate Riding, being one of the ridings of the said county, pass a resolution that the said Waimate Riding be divided into two ridings to be named respectively Waimate and Pakaraka Ridings, and that the number of Councillors to be elected for each such riding shall be two for each such riding, and that the boundaries of such ridings shall be those set forth and defined at such meeting of the Council, namely, those hereinafter defined: And whereas the Council, at a special meeting held on the twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, did direct that a special order be made in conformity with such resolution: And whereas all notices have been given and all things have been done as required by “The Counties Act, 1876,” aforesaid and the amendments thereof to enable the said Council to make such special order as aforesaid:
Now it is hereby declared that the riding at present existing as Waimate Riding shall be and the same is hereby divided into two ridings named respectively Waimate and Pakaraka Ridings, and that the boundaries of such ridings shall be as follows:—
The Waimate Riding.
All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded towards the North by the Mongonui County; towards the East by the ocean to the Waitangi River; towards the South by the Waitangi River aforesaid and the Waiaruhe River as far as the Black Bridge; thence westerly by the Ohaeawai and Bay Road to the Ohaeawai Telegraph Station; thence westerly by the Great North Road to the Totara Block; thence by the southern boundary of the Totara Block aforesaid to the Omapere Lake; thence by the southern shore of the Omapere Lake aforesaid to the Omapere Block on the western side of the lake; and thence westerly by the southern boundary of the Omapere Block to the county boundary-line; and towards the West by the Hokianga County boundary to the commencing point.
The Pakaraka Riding.
All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded towards the North by the Waimate Riding; towards the East by the sea and the Kawakawa Riding as described in Gazette No. 16, 21st February, 1878, page 215; towards the South-east by Whangarei County and Hobson County; and towards the West by Hokianga County.
And it is further declared that the number of Councillors to be elected by each riding shall be—for Waimate Riding, two Councillors; for Pakaraka Riding, two Councillors.
Given under the seal of the County of Bay of Islands, this twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
