Land in Orepuki and Longwood Mining District exempted
from Occupation for Mining Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The Mines Act, 1877,” I, William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
exempted from occupation for mining purposes, or for water-
races, dams, or reservoirs, or for machine, business, or
residence sites.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land
District, containing 4,000 acres, more or less, bounded
towards the West by the east boundary of Longwood Dis-
trict; towards the North by the south boundary of Block
XIX., Jacob’s River Hundred; towards the East by Section
No. 7, Block XVII., Jacob’s River Hundred; towards the
South by Section No. 1, Block XVII. aforesaid; again
towards the East by said Section No. 1; again towards the
South by Section No. 2, Block XVII. aforesaid; again
towards the East by Sections Nos. 2 and 3, Block XVII.
aforesaid; again towards the North by Section No. 3 afore-
said; again towards the East by Section No. 3 aforesaid;
again towards the North by a road-line; again towards the
East by Section No. 5, Block XVII. aforesaid; again towards
the North by said Section No. 5; again towards the East by
Section No. 6, Block XVII. aforesaid; again towards the
North by Sections Nos. 6 and 8, Block XVII. aforesaid;
again towards the East by the west boundary of Block I.,
Jacob’s River Hundred; again towards the South by Section
No. 37, Block XVII., Jacob’s River Hundred; again towards
the East by Section No. 37 aforesaid; again towards the
South by the Orepuki Railway-line; again towards the West
by a road-line; and again towards the South by Sections
Nos. 28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36,
38, 39, and 40, of said Block XVIII.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-eighth day of February, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
four.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Hawke’s Bay.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of “The Land Act,
1877,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclama-
tion in the Gazette, may from time to time set apart out of
any suburban or rural lands such blocks or allotments of land
as he shall think fit, and set the same aside for sale on de-
ferred payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day on
which the land shall be open for application; and that he
may also in like manner set apart for sale on deferred pay-
ments such blocks or allotments as may be recommended by
any Land Board, and may also from time to time alter, amend,
or revoke any such Proclamation:
And whereas the Land Board of Hawke’s Bay did, on the
twenty-eighth day of December, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three, and the twenty-fifth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, pass resolutions
recommending that the land described in the Schedule hereto
annexed should be set apart for sale on deferred payments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on
deferred payments; and that Tuesday, the fifteenth day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, shall be
the day on which the said land shall be open for application.
In pursuance of section four of “The Land Act 1877
Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby declare that subsection
four of the sixty-third section of “The Land Act, 1877,”
shall not apply to any of the lands described in the Schedule
hereto.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of “The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby fix the
price at which the land so described shall be sold to be the
price stated in the Schedule hereto.
