Waipawa River District proclaimed under “The Hawke’s Bay Rivers Act, 1876.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS a petition from the owners or occupiers of more than two-thirds of the acreage of the district comprising the part of the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay defined in the Schedule hereto has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, praying him to declare that “The Hawke’s Bay Rivers Act, 1876,” shall come into operation within such district:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act and by “The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the said “Hawke’s Bay Rivers Act, 1876,” shall, from and after the date hereof, come into operation in that part of the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay the boundaries whereof are defined in the Schedule hereto, and do also proclaim and declare the same to be a district under the said “Hawke’s Bay Rivers Act, 1876,” and the name by which such district shall be known is the Waipawa River District; and do further proclaim and determine that the number of Conservators who are to constitute a Board for such district shall be five.

SCHEDULE.

WAIPAWA RIVER DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the County of Waipawa, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, bounded towards the North-west and South-west generally by the Poupoutahi and the Otukotorewhero Blocks and the College land, all of the Waipukurau Survey District, from the northernmost shore of Lake Roto-a-Tara to the south-eastern corner of the said College land; thence towards the South-east by a right line to the north-western corner of the Tukura Block; thence again towards the South-west and North-west and towards the South by the south-western, north-western, and southern boundary-lines of that block to its south-western corner; thence towards the West by a right line to the confluence of the Homewood Creek and the New Waipawa River; thence by the western bank of that river to the Waipawa River; thence towards the North by the north bank of the latter river to a peg 1600 links distant in a south-easterly direction from the Haowhenua Native Reserve; thence again towards the South-west by a right line to the confluence of the Waipawa River aforesaid and the Tukituki River; thence by a right line due south to the south bank of the latter river; thence again towards the South by that bank to a point due south from the western corner of Section No. 10, Tukuwaru Block; thence towards the East by a line to that corner; thence again towards the North and East by the north and the east banks of the Tukituki and the New Waipawa Rivers respectively to the southern corner of the Bridge Reserve: thence by the south-eastern boundary-line of that reserve to the Kaikora–Patangata Road; thence again towards the South by the south side of that road to its junction with the middle road; thence again towards the East by the latter road for a distance of 11800 links; thence by a right line bearing 11° (true) to the Papanui Stream; thence by the east bank of that stream to a point opposite to the south-eastern corner of the Patangata No. 3 Block; thence to that corner and towards the North-east generally by that block and the Patangata No. 4 Block to the south-eastern shore of Lake Roto-a-Tara aforesaid at the Papanui Stream; and thence by the eastern shore of that lake to the place of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Amalgamating Licensing Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section three of “The Licensing Act Amendment Act, 1882,” I, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Licensing Districts of Balclutha North and Balclutha South shall be amalgamated under the name of the Balclutha Licensing District, as from the fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four; and that, as from the said date, the said Licensing Districts of Balclutha North and Balclutha South shall be abolished.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Licensing District altered.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:

And whereas it is expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the District of Maungatawhiri:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Maungatawhiri District, which shall henceforth be those described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COUNTY OF MANUKAU.

Maungatawhiri Licensing District.—Comprises all that area known as the Road Districts of Pukekohe East and Maungatawhiri, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 42, of the 18th May, 1883.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in a certain aboriginal native of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land.
