Proclaiming Quarantine-grounds for Dogs under “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881.”—Notice No. 156.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and order that the places mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be quarantine-grounds for dogs imported into the several ports of entry mentioned in the said Schedule.

Napier .. Adjoining Government Sheep-dip, Spit.
Port Nicholson .. Somes Island.
Nelson .. Government Sheep- and Cattle-yards at the Port.
Lyttelton .. Quail Island and Acclimatisation Society’s Grounds, Christchurch.
Port Chalmers .. Government Sheep- and Cattle-yards Mussel Bay.
Bluff Harbour .. Rabbit Island.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Declaring Diversion of the River Ngaruroro duly executed under “The Public Works Act, 1882.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS for the safety and proper maintenance of the beach-road from Napier to Clive, in the County of Hawke’s Bay, and for the safety and proper maintenance of the railway from Napier to Woodville, it has been found desirable to protect the banks of, and to alter and divert the course of, the River Ngaruroro, between the said railway and the sea-coast to the eastward of the said railway: And whereas the said alteration and diversion have been partially executed by the County Council of Hawke’s Bay, and it is desirable to complete such alteration and diversion:

Now, therefore, by virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me in that behalf by the one hundred and twenty-sixth section of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and all other powers thereunto me enabling, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the banks of the said river shall be protected, and the course of the said river altered and diverted; and in exercise of the like powers, I do hereby further declare that the works of protecting the said river-banks, and of altering and diverting the course of the said river, heretofore executed, or partially executed, by the County Council of Hawke’s Bay within the limits hereinbefore defined, in order to secure the safety and proper maintenance of the road and railway aforesaid, shall be and are deemed to have been so executed, or partially executed, for the purposes hereinbefore described.
