Constituting Ashburton Forks River District, and declaring
Ashburton County Council to be the Board of Conservators
thereof.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The Canterbury Rivers Act 1870
Amendment Act, 1877," and "The Counties Acts Amend-
ment Act, 1883," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare
that, from and after the date hereof the district de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall be a district under "The
Canterbury Rivers Act, 1870," and such district shall be
known as the Ashburton Forks River District; and I do
hereby further declare that the Council of the County of
Ashburton shall be the Board of Conservators of the said
Ashburton Forks River District.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the County of Ashburton bounded towards
the North-west by a road being the continuation of the road
forming the north-west boundary of Reserve No. 1410 from
the south branch of the River Ashburton to the road forming
the south-west boundary of said Reserve No. 1410; towards
the North-east generally by the last-mentioned road and by
a road forming the south-east boundary of Rural Section
No. 32201 to the north-east boundary-line of Rural Section
No. 14544, by that boundary-line to the north branch of the
River Ashburton, by that branch to and across the road
which forms the north-east boundary of Rural Section
No. 27629, by that road, crossing the said north branch by
the road which forms the eastern boundaries of Rural
Sections Nos. 27629 and 18860, by a road from the south-east
corner of Rural Section No. 18860 passing through Rural
Sections Nos. 8767, 7862, and 4905 to near the south-west
corner of said Rural Section No. 4905; thence by the south-
eastern boundary-line of that section to the north branch of
the River Ashburton; towards the South-west generally by
that branch to and across a road which forms the southern
boundary of Rural Section No. 18860 aforesaid; towards the
South by that road which crosses the said north branch and
forms the southern boundaries of Rural Sections Nos. 31497,
23722, 4448, Reserve No. 1950, Rural Section No. 30517, and
the continuation of that road to the south branch of the
River Ashburton; and again towards the South-west
generally by that branch to the place of commencement:
as the same is delineated on the plan in the Survey Office,
Christchurch.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Invercargill, this twenty-sixth day
of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four.

THE following special order, made by the Sandon and
Carnarvon Road Board, is published in accordance
with "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.
That the Sandon and Carnarvon Road Board now make a
special order, in conformity with clause 75 of "The Road
Boards Act, 1882," for the control of horses and cattle
wandering at large, as follows:β
Any person turning loose any horse or horses or cattle
upon any district road, or allowing any animals to wander
on any district road or thoroughfare within the Road Board
district, shall be deemed guilty of an offence against the by-
law, and shall upon conviction forfeit any sum not exceeding
Β£1 a head, and not less than 1s. a head; and shall be By-law
No. 1 of this Board; and that the same shall take effect
from the 12th day of February, 1884.
