Excepting Districts from “The Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882.”

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in the fifth section of “The Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the several districts in the colony described in the Schedule hereto, not being boroughs, shall be and the same are hereby proclaimed to be districts in which the Act or Acts for the time being in force regulating the making, levying, or recovery of rates in such districts in respect of lands the property of or belonging to persons other than aboriginal natives shall be in full force and effect as regards all Native lands, and to which the provisions of the hereinbefore first-mentioned Act relating to Native lands shall not apply.

SCHEDULE.

In this Schedule, unless otherwise expressed, the references to counties, ridings, and road districts shall be deemed to refer to the boundaries of such counties, ridings, and road districts as the same respectively exist at the date of the foregoing Proclamation.

All that portion of the County of Mongonui comprised within the boundaries of the Totara, Kaitaia, Whangaroa North, Oruru, and Kaeo Road Districts.

All that portion of the County of Whangarei comprised within the boundaries of the Parua, Whareora, Glenbervie, Ruatangata, Mangapai, Maungakaramea, and Waikiekie Road Districts, and the outlying districts of the Manaia and Waipu Ridings.

All that portion of the County of Rodney comprised within the boundaries of the Matakana East, Puhoi, Mahurangi Upper, Mahurangi Lower, Tauhoa, Komokoriki, and Wharehine Road Districts, the outlying district of the Tauhoa Riding, and that portion of the County of Rodney comprised within the boundaries of the Omaha Road District as existing prior to the 21st December, 1883.

The County of Hobson.

All that portion of the County of Waitemata comprised within the boundaries of the Titirangi, Pukeatua, North Shore, and Waitakerei East Road Districts.

The County of Eden.

All that portion of the County of Manukau comprised within the boundaries of the Mercer, Maungatawhiri, Pokeno, Awhitu, Pollock Settlement, Waiuku, Waipipi, Karaka, Mauku, Wairoa, and Maraetai Road Districts.

All that portion of the County of Thames comprised within the boundaries of the Parawai Road District, and the outlying districts of the Hastings, Waiotahi, and Kauaeranga Ridings.

The County of Waikato.

All that portion of the County of Raglan comprised within the boundaries of the Karamu, Pirongia, and Te Akau Road Districts, and also the Township of Raglan.

The County of Waipa.

All that portion of the County of Piako comprised within the boundaries of the outlying district of Te Aroha Riding.

All that portion of the County of Tauranga comprised within the boundaries of the Te Puke and Katikati Road Districts.

All that portion of the County of Whakatane comprised within the boundaries of the Opotiki Town District.

All that portion of the County of Cook comprised within the boundaries of the Ormond, Turanganui, Waikohu, Patutahi, and Poverty Bay Road Districts.

All that portion of the County of Hawke’s Bay comprised within the boundaries of the Havelock, Okawa, Heretaunga, Puketapu, Meanee, and Clive Road Districts; and also that portion of the Petane Road District situated within the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay.

All that portion of the County of Waipawa comprised within the boundaries of the Woodville, Kumeroa, Porangahau, Wallingford, Tamumu, Oero, Ruataniwha, Takapau, and Waipukurau Road Districts.

All that portion of the County of Taranaki comprised within the boundaries of the Barrett, Henui, Okato, Tataraimaka, Waiwakaiho, Egmont, Moa, Clifton, Waitara East, Waitara West, and Manganui Road Districts, Opunake and Raleigh Town Districts, and also the Oakura Road District; exclusive of some 8,530 acres of Native land taken into the Oakura Road District on the 18th May, 1883.

All that portion of the County of Hawera comprised within the boundaries of the Hawera Road District and the Normanby Town District.

All that portion of the County of Patea comprised within the boundaries of the Patea West and Patea East Road Districts, and all that portion of the County of Patea comprised within the boundaries of the Wairoa Road District, as described in Gazette of the 18th May, 1883.

All that portion of the County of Rangitikei comprised within the boundaries of the Lethbridge Town District.

All that portion of the County of Manawatu comprised within the boundaries of the Foxton, Manawatu, Manchester, Sandon, and Carnarvon Road Districts.

The County of Hutt.

The County of Wairarapa West.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this twenty-first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
