and onwards in the same straight line along the southern
boundary of Section No. 1087, a distance altogether of 20
chains; thence southerly at a right angle following the
western boundary line of Sections Nos. 1087 and 1921, a
distance of 31 chains 50 links; thence westerly at a right
angle to the Native reserve at Kaiapoi; thence northerly
following the eastern boundary of the said reserve to the
Old North Road; and from thence returning along that road
to the commencing point; and numbered 120 (in red) on the
map of the Chief Surveyor of the Provincial District of Can-
terbury; setting out and describing the rural land in the
Mandeville District aforesaid; subject nevertheless to the
road, 1 chain wide, passing through this reserve from a point
on the northern boundary being 7 chains 30 links from the
north-western corner, and crossing the western boundary at
a point being 14 chains 20 links from the south-western
corner, also to another road branching from the one last
mentioned at the northern boundary of this reserve, and
crossing the southern boundary at a point being 5 chains 60
links from the south-eastern corner; for which road allow-
ance is made in the acreage.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fifteenth
day of December, 1884.

Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE COLONIAL TREASURER PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of “The Public
Domains Act, 1881,” it is, inter alia, enacted that
the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time
delegate all or any of the powers by the said Act conferred,
save as is therein mentioned, to any person or persons for
any period, and subject to such stipulations as may be speci-
fied in such order, and that every such delegation may from
time to time in like manner be altered or revoked: And
Whereas, pursuant to “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” by an
Order in Council of even date herewith, the land described in
the Schedule thereto is declared to be brought under the
operation of and to be subject to the provisions of the said
“Public Domains Act, 1881:”
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony of New Zealand, doth, by this present order, delegate
all the powers conferred by the Act first above-mentioned,
except the powers under or conferred by sections five and
twelve, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known
as the Kaiapoi Domain Board, namely,—

The Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the
Borough of Kaiapoi

(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the second Thursday in each month, at 4 o’clock p.m., at
    the Borough Council Office, Kaiapoi, or at such other time
    or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
    The first meeting shall be held on Thursday, the eighth
    day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
    Thursday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chair-
    man.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

Vesting a Reserve in the Palmerston North Road Board.—

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
was reserved for a gravel-pit: And whereas, in the
opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said land
in the Road Board of the Palmerston North District:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of
“The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the said reserve
shall become vested in the Road Board of the Palmerston
North District, in trust, for a gravel-pit.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Wellin-
ton, containing 33 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less,
being Section No. 362 on the plan of the Township of
Palmerston. Bounded towards the North-east and South-
east by public roads, 2800 links and 1200 links respectively;
and towards the South-west and North-west by public roads,
2800 links and 1200 links respectively.

Lands declared to be held according to Native Custom.

WHEREAS by the second section of “The Special
Powers and Contracts Act, 1884,” it is enacted that
the Governor may do, execute, and perform the several acts,
deeds, matters and things specified in the second column of
the Schedule thereto:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby declare that the parcels of land
known as Haururu and Rotomahana Parekarangi shall be
hereafter deemed and taken to be lands held by the Native
owners, according to Native customs or usages, as held
before any action was taken in any Native Land Court of
New Zealand to investigate the title to such lands.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this sixteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four,

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section
of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been sur-
veyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding
that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Land Districts of Auckland, West Coast (North Island),
Canterbury, and Otago, described in the Schedule hereunder
written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood
8 perches, more or less, and being called or known as Lot
No. 49 of the Town of Woodside, Waitemata Survey District,
Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded towards the North
by a road, 205 links; towards the East by a road, 171 links;
towards the South by Lot No. 48, 200 links; and towards the
West by Lot No. 16, 129 links: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less. For a site for a public hall.
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre
2 roods 29 perches, more or less, and being called or known
as Lot No. 68 of the Town of Woodside, Waitemata Survey
District, Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded towards
