the southern portion of the Opatito Block, No. 3774; commencing at a point on the eastern boundary of the aforesaid block at a distance of 23 links or thereabouts from its south-eastern angle, being the northern side of the road above referred to; and thence continuing westerly for a distance of 3300 links or thereabouts to the southern boundary of the aforesaid block: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on Plan No. 3581, deposited in the Survey Office, at Auckland.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fiftieth section of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the section of land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of sections three to forty-eight of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882.”

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Taranaki.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of “The Land Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day on which the land shall be open for application; and that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may be recommended by any Land Board, and may also from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such Proclamation:

. And whereas the Land Board of Taranaki did, on the third and seventeenth days of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, pass resolutions recommending that the land described in the Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on deferred payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid recommendations, and to set apart the said land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on deferred payments; and that Tuesday, the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, shall be the day on which the said land shall be open for application, in allotments as surveyed and marked on the selection maps in the principal land office of the district.

In pursuance of section four of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby declare that subsection four of the sixty-third section of “The Land Act, 1877,” shall not apply to the land described in the Schedule hereto.

And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby fix the price at which the land so described shall be sold to be the price stated in the Schedule hereto.

Port Chalmers proclaimed a Borough under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation, declare any of the several places specified in the Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal Corporation has been established under the provisions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago intituled “The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” to be a borough constituted under the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” from a day to be named in such Proclamation, subject, however, to certain conditions in the said section mentioned:

And whereas the Town of Port Chalmers, in the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the places specified in the said Third Schedule, and a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, by fifty of the ratepayers of such town, praying him to constitute such town into a borough under the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” and such petition was, on the nineteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, publicly notified, and no petition from an equal or greater number of such ratepayers was presented to His Excellency within two months after such public notification praying him not to assent to the prayer of such first-mentioned petition:
