its intersection with the southern boundary-lines produced of Lots Nos. 4 and 8 on the plan of the Harbour Board property, north of the lagoon; Easterly by the said western boundary of the railway reserve, bearing 191° 46', for a distance of 200 links; generally South-easterly by a curved line running generally in a south-westerly direction following the arc of a circle having the radius of 774 links and the length of 877 links, being concentric with and 50 links distant from the previously-described curved line, meeting the north-eastern boundary of the railway reserve near Itchen Street; South-westerly by the said last-named boundary, bearing 324° 44', for a distance of 71·4 links to the commencing point within the Town of Oamaru, Provincial District of Otago: and is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 8999, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a road in the Waihemo County, Provincial District of Otago:
And whereas the Waihemo County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 6 perches, being portion of Section No. 5, Block I.; commencing at a point on the south-western boundary of Section No. 5 distant from the south-west corner of said section 369 links, on a bearing of 335° 20'. Bounded—Generally Westerly by lines, 939, 602, 437, and 137 links respectively; generally Easterly by lines, 613, 646, and 1269 links respectively; South-westerly by a line, 381 links, to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 13 perches, being portion of Section No. 8, Block I.; commencing at a point on the eastern boundary of Section No. 8 distant from the south-west corner of Section No. 5 1401 links, on a bearing of 180°. Bounded—South-westerly by a line, 362 links; North-westerly by a road-line, 104 links; North-easterly by a line, 297 links; Easterly by a line, 137 links, to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 26 perches, being portion of Section No. 3, Block I.; commencing at a point on the southern boundary of Section No. 3 distant from the south-east corner of said section 1268 links, on a bearing of 89° 35'. Bounded—North-easterly by a line, 965 links; Northerly by a line, 131 links; North-westerly by a line, 550 links; Southerly by a line, 130 links; South-easterly by a line, 424 links; Southerly by a line, 28 links; South-westerly by lines, 725 and 205 links respectively, to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 1 perch, being portion of Section No. 7, Block I.; commencing at a point on the eastern boundary of Section No. 7 distant from the north-east corner of said section 1463 links, on a bearing of 180°. Bounded—Northerly by lines, 274 and 152 links respectively; Easterly by a line, 1097 links; Northerly and North-easterly by lines, 52, 83, 172, 193, and 166 links respectively; South-westerly by lines, 370 and 256 links respectively; Westerly by a line, 1062 links; South-easterly by lines, 274 and 269 links respectively; Easterly by a line, 11 links, to commencing point.
Be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; the several parcels of land being situate in the Survey District of Dunback, Provincial District of Otago; and are more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 12212, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such lands, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:
It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, partially to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land, so as to admit of the leasing of the said land for nine years, from the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.
