ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of October, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by the two hundred and eleventh section of “The Counties Act, 1876,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time appointed for holding the elections, for the ensuing three years, of the Council of the County of Selwyn, from the second Wednesday in November next to the third Wednesday in November next.

Special Orders made by Cook County Council.—Amending Road Districts and Ridings.

THE following special orders, made by the Cook County Council, are published in accordance with “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Cook County Council on the 11th September, 1884.

Resolved, That, in compliance with the prayer of a petition duly notified and presented to this Council on the 14th August, 1884, this Council doth hereby order that the boundaries of the Waikohu and Turanganui Road Districts shall be amended, and the Waimata Road District constituted; the several boundaries being as hereinafter set forth in Schedules 1, 2, and 3, accompanying this special order.

SCHEDULE No. 1.

Waikohu Road District.—Amended Boundaries.

All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded towards the North by a right line from Trig. Station No. 139, Arowhana Survey District, to Trig. Station No. 178, and thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 170; thence towards the East generally by a right line to Trig. Station No. 168, and thence by another right line to Trig. Station No. 134, and by a right line from the latter station to the northernmost angle of the Waimata North Block; thence by the south-eastern boundary-lines of the Waihora No. 2 Block to the southernmost angle of that block; thence by the northern, north-western, and south-western boundaries of the Waimata West Block, and the eastern, south-eastern, and south-western boundaries of the Ngakoroa Block, and by the latter boundary produced to the middle of the Waipaoa River, and by the middle of that river to its confluence with the Waikaahu Stream; towards the South and South-west generally by the last-named stream and the Waikakariki Stream to the north-eastern corner of the Okahuatiu No. 2 Block; thence by that block to the Wharekopae Stream; thence by that stream to the Wharekopae No. 1 Block; thence following the eastern boundary of that block to the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the Wharekopae No. 2 Block and the northern boundaries of the Wharekopae Block to Maungatapara; thence by the south-western boundary of the Waikohumatawai Block to the Koranga River, and by a line along the middle of that river to the westernmost angle of the Motu Block; and thence towards the North-west by the north-western boundary-lines of the Motu Block and the Motu No. 2 Block, and the north-western and northern boundaries of the Motu No. 1 Block to the Motu River; thence by a line along the middle of that river to the place of its intersection by a right line produced in continuance of a line drawn between Trig. Stations Nos. 140 and 139; and thence by the aforesaid line and the line between the last-mentioned trig. stations to the place of commencement.

SCHEDULE No. 2.

Turanganui Road District.—Amended Boundaries.

All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland commencing at the northernmost angle of the Ngatawakawaka Block. Bounded towards the North by the northern boundaries of the Ngatawakawaka and Mangatokerau Blocks and the boundary of the latter block produced to the middle of the Uawa River, and by the middle of that river and the northern boundary of the Anaura Block to the sea; towards the East by the sea to the middle of the Pouawa River; towards the South-west generally by the middle of the Pouawa River aforesaid to a point in the same being the termination of a right line produced southerly in continuance of the western boundary of the Whangara Block; thence by the line aforesaid, and by the western boundaries of the Whangara Block aforesaid, the western boundaries of the Whangara No. 1 Block, and the western boundaries of the Waiomoku No. 1 Block and the Kowhata Block to the north-western corner of the latter block; thence by part of the southern and the whole of the western boundaries of the Taumatarata Block, part of the south-western boundary of the Mangapapa Block, the south-western boundaries of the Rangikohua Block, and the southern boundary of the Arakihi Block to the eastern boundary of the Waikohu Road District, hereinbefore described; and towards the West by part of the eastern boundary of the Waikohu Road District aforesaid as far as Trig. Station No. 168, and thence by the south-eastern boundaries of the Waingaromia No. 2 Block to the place of commencement.

SCHEDULE No. 3.

Waimata Road District.

All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded towards the North-east generally by the south-western boundary of the Turanganui Road District, hereinbefore described; towards the South-east by high-water mark of the sea to Tuahina Point; towards the South-west by high-water mark of the sea, the eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the Borough of Gisborne (as described in Gazette No. 42, 12th May, 1877, folio 526), the north-eastern boundaries of the Poverty Bay Road District, and the eastern boundaries of the Ormond Road District (as described respectively in Gazette No. 42, 18th May, 1883, folio 657) to the eastern boundary of the Waikohu Road District, hereinbefore described; and towards the North-west by part of the eastern boundary of the Waikohu Road District aforesaid to the place of commencement.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order is made in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, and that all the requirements of the Road Boards Act have been duly complied with.

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Cook County Council on the 11th September, 1884.

Resolved—1. That the boundaries of the Tolago Riding be amended as follows: Bounded towards the South by the southern boundary of the Whangara Block to the western boundary of that block; thence by the western boundary of that block to the Taumatarata Block; thence westerly by the southern boundaries of the Taumatarata, Rangikohua, and Arakihi Blocks to the eastern boundary of the Waikohu Riding; towards the West by the Waikohu Riding; towards the North by the Waiapu Riding; and towards the East by the ocean to the point of commencement.

  1. That the boundaries of the Waikohu Riding be amended, and be those of the Waikohu Road District as amended this day.

  2. That the Waimata Riding be now constituted, and that its boundaries be as follows: Bounded towards the North by the Tolago Riding, as amended this day; towards the East by the ocean; towards the South by the Borough of Gisborne; and towards the West by the Gisborne Riding and part of the Waikohu Riding to the southern boundary of the Tolago Riding, the point of commencement.

  3. That no member be allowed for the Waimata Riding.

I certify that the foregoing special order was made by the Cook County Council on the 11th September, 1884, and that all the provisions of the Counties Act have been complied with.
