A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in a certain aboriginal native of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:
It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of September, 1884.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time constitute, vary, and abolish Native licensing districts: And whereas it is expedient to constitute the Native Licensing District of Omataroa:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and define the portion of the colony mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto to be a Native licensing district from and after the first day of October next.
SCHEDULE.
Omataroa.
Bounded towards the North by the Bay of Plenty; towards the East by the Opotiki Road District, and a line due south from the south-western corner of that district to the County of Cook; thence towards the South-east and North-east by that county; again towards the South-east by the County of Wairoa; towards the West and South generally by the Taupo Native Licensing District, described in an Order in Council of even date herewith, to Poutihi; thence again towards the North by a right line to Otanewainuku; and thence again towards the West by a right line to Wairakei.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of September, 1884.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time alter the limits of any Native licensing district: And whereas it is expedient to alter the limits of the Native Licensing District of Taupo, as described in a Proclamation dated the twenty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in this behalf, and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby alter the limits of the said district, and doth define that part of the colony mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto to be the Native Licensing District of Taupo, for the purposes of the said Act, in lieu of that described in the before-mentioned Proclamation.

SCHEDULE.
Bounded towards the North generally by the Counties of Raglan, Waipa, and Waikato respectively, from Pirongia Mountain to Kopuahau; thence by a right line to Poutihi; thence towards the East and again towards the North and East by the Counties of Tauranga and Whakatane to the County of Wairoa; thence towards the South-east and again towards the East by that county to the 39° 15' parallel of south latitude; thence towards the South by that parallel of latitude to the County of Taranaki; thence towards the West by the said County of Taranaki to its northernmost angle; thence by a right line to Rangitoto Mountain; thence by a line bearing north 22° 30' west to the summit of the watershed between the Waipa River and the West Coast, and by that summit to Pirongia Mountain aforesaid, the place of commencement.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Education Act, 1877,” the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed approving of a class-book for public schools; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this order shall take effect from the date hereof.

REGULATION.
The book entitled “A Geography of New Zealand and Australia,” by J. J. Paterson, B.A. (Whitcombe and Tombs, Limited, Christchurch), may be used in any public school as if it had been described and included in the list of works set forth in the Order in Council dated the 24th day of September, 1878.
