Gold-Mining Leases. — Notice of Withdrawal of Applications.
Crown Lands Office,
Nelson, 14th September, 1883.
I T is hereby notified that the under-mentioned applications
for gold-mining leases have been withdrawn, and that
the ground is now open for application as if a lease of the
same had never been applied for, viz. :-
James Edge, for the Avoca Quartz-Mining Company; 16\frac{1}{2}
acres, south and adjoining the Cosmopolitan Lease, New
Creek, Lyell. Dated September 21st, 1882.
John McBean and party, for the Arabi Quartz-Mining
Company; 16\frac{1}{2} acres, east and adjoining the Victor Emanuel
Company, New Creek, Lyell. Dated October 10th, 1882.
Henry Cosgrove, for the Sunbeam Quartz-Mining Com-
pany; 16\frac{1}{2} acres, bounded north and east by Star of Hope
Lease, west by Advance and Golden Spur Leases. Dated
November 21st, 1882..

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
I N conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Ahaura on or before the 20th day of
September, 1883.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden's Office at Ahaura.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: James Sinnott. Style under which it is in-
tended to conduct the business: "Sinnott's Lease." 3 acres,
foot of Dry Gully, Nelson Creek, Grey, in the Nelson South-
West Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Nelson, this twelfth day of
September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

N OTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned block
of Crown land in the Kowai District will be offered
for sale by public auction, at the Courthouse, Amberley, on
Monday, the 12th November next, at 12 o'clock noon :—
Reserve No. 1639, Kowai Domain, containing 344 acres
Upset price, £3 per acre.
Plan may be seen at the Survey Office, Christchurch.

SALE OF LEASES FOR A TERM OF THIRTY YEARS.
Compensation for Improvements up to £5 per Acre will be
allowed at End of Term of Lease.
West Coast Settlement Reserves Office,
Hawera, 4th September, 1883.
W RITTEN tenders (in sealed covers) are invited for the
under-mentioned sections, in accordance with the
provisions of "The West Coast Settlement Reserves Act,
1881," and the regulations issued thereunder.
The tenders, accompanied by the statutory declaration and
deposit of six months' rent at the rate tendered, in accordance
with the regulations, must be lodged with the Reserves
Trustee, at the Courthouse, Hawera, not later than 4 o'clock
p.m., on Thursday, the 4th day of October, to be opened by
the Reserves Trustee, at Hawera, on Friday, the 5th day
of October, at 11 o'clock a.m., when the highest tenderer
for each lease (if the tenders shall equal or exceed the upset
fixed annual rental per acre) will be declared the lessee.
Plans and schedules of the sections, and copies of the
regulations under which leases will be sold and issued, also
forms of tender and declaration respectively, can be obtained
at the District Land Offices, New Plymouth, Patea, and
Hawera, or at any of the other land offices in the colony;
also at the Office of the Collector of Customs, Wanganui, and
at the Post Offices, Thames, Wanganui, Reefton, Westport,
Greymouth, Ashburton, and Oamaru, on and after the 31st
July instant.

The above land, designated the Kapuni Block, is situated
near Okaiawa Township, and consists of open as well as
fairly level bush-country. It is well opened up with roads.
The soil is good and well watered.
