His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council dated
the eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, making delegation of certain powers in manner
as therein appears, and doth, with the like advice and
consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with
respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the
Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act afore-
said, except the powers under or conferred by sections five
and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who
shall be known as the Hororata Domain Board, viz.,-
Hon. Sir JOHN HALL,
JOHN EDWIN FOUNTAINE,
JAMES CORDY,
JAMES THWAITES, and
THOMAS BROWNLIE
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say, -
- The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
the first Monday in each month, at seven o'clock p.m., at
the office of the Chairman, or at such other time or place as
may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first
meeting shall be held on Monday, the first day of October,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. - Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, or
by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no
other business than that so specified shall be transacted at
such meeting. - Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
meeting may be adjourned from time to time. - The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first
Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
his successor. - If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
such meeting. - If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the
office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members
may, at any monthly or special meeting, appoint a Chair-
man. - All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, situate in the Hororata District, being sections num-
bered respectively one thousand five hundred and eighty-nine
(1589) and two thousand two hundred and seventeen (2217)
(in red), known as the Hororata Recreation Grounds, con-
taining by admeasurement two hundred and twenty-seven
(227) acres, more or less, the boundary whereof commences
at the north-west corner of section numbered 18164; thence
North-westerly along a road line a distance of about forty-
two (42) chains; thence South-easterly along another road
line a distance of about ninety-four (94) chains ten (10) links;
thence North-easterly along section numbered 12591 a dis-
tance of twenty-two (22) chains twenty-eight (28) links;
thence North-westerly along sections numbered 12576 and
18164 distances respectively of about twenty-seven (27)
chains sixty (60) links and five (5) chains; and from thence
returning North-easterly along the latter section a distance
of about forty-one (41) chains, to the commencing point; as
the same is delineated on the map of the Chief Surveyor of
the Provincial District of Canterbury, setting out and
describing the rural land in the Hororata District aforesaid;
save and excepting section numbered 1074 (in red), situate in
the above-described sections.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day
of September, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twelfth section of "The Public
Domains Act, 1881," it is, inter alia, enacted that
the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time
delegate all or any of the powers by the said Act conferred,
save as is therein mentioned, to any person or persons for
any period, and subject to such stipulations as may be
specified in such order, and that every such delegation may
from time to time in like manner be altered or revoked:
And whereas, pursuant to "The Public Reserves Act, 1881,"
by an Order in Council of even date herewith, the land
described in the Schedule thereto is declared to be brought
under the operation of and to be subject to the provisions of
the said "Public Domains Act, 1881":
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony of New Zealand, doth, by this present order, delegate
all the powers conferred by the Act first above mentioned,
except the powers under or conferred by sections five and
twelve, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known
as the Ashburton Domain Board, viz.,-

JAMES EBENEZER TREVOR, M.R.C.S.E., ETC.,
EDWARD GEORGE WRIGHT,
HENRY THOMAS WINTER,
THOMAS BULLOCK,
HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR OF ASHBURTON,
WILLIAM GEORGE HERBERT ST. HILL, and
JOHN ORR
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipula-

p.m., at the County Council Offices, Ashburton, or at such
other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the

by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
at such meeting. - Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any

NOTE. - This Order in Council is issued in lieu of that of
the 27th August, 1883, in which a clerical error occurs, the
Mayor of Timaru having been appointed on the Board instead
of the Mayor of Ashburton.

WHEREAS by the twenty-first section of "The Land
Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," it is enacted that
the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions
upon which the lands comprised in any village settlement
shall be disposed of, and the mode of payment for the same:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor has, by Pro-
clamation in the New Zealand Gazette, set apart the lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto for sale as a village
settlement:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon
him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with
the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of New
Zealand, doth hereby fix the following terms and conditions
