Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
-
The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
his successor. -
If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
such meeting. -
If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the
office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members
may, at any monthly or special meeting, appoint a Chair-
man. -
All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of
June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Cambridge-Rotorua
Road shall and may be constructed on or through the several
parcels of land more particularly described in the Schedule
hcreto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, de-
posited in the office of the Minister for Public Works at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the
said colony.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the south-eastern boundary of
Section No. 5 of Maraeroa-Oturoa Block, No. 5478, in the Roto-
rua Survey District, and proceeding thence in a generally south-
easterly direction for a distance of 8 miles 69 chains or there-
abouts, and terminating at a point on the Rotorua and Tauranga
Road, near the Ngungotaha Creek, passing in, into, through, or
over the following lands: Native land and Maniaroa-Puruha
Block, No. 5171: the above-described road not to be less than 1
chain wide; as the same is more particularly delineated upon
the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth sec-
tion of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been
surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstand-
ing that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which, in his opinion, are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Land Districts of Marlborough, Canterbury, and Otago
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the pur-
poses in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Marlborough, in the Town of Picton, estimated to contain 30
perches, commencing at the southernmost corner of Section
No. 21 in the said town. Bounded on the North and West by
the waters of Picton Harbour; and towards the East, 430
links or thereabouts, by Hampden Street, to the commencing
point: as the same is more particularly delineated on the
official map in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Blenheim.
As a landing-place.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Marlborough, in the Arapawa Survey District, estimated
to contain 600 acres, commencing at the southernmost
corner of the Whangataura Run. Bounded North-easterly
by the said run to the summit of the dividing range between
Port Underwood and Queen Charlotte Sound; thence North-
westerly by the said summit for a distance of about 50 chains;
thence South-westerly by a right line to the north-western
corner of Section No. 8, Port Underwood District; thence
Southerly by that section to high-water mark; thence by
high-water mark and by Sections Nos. 20 and 1, Port Under-
wood District, to the commencing point: as the same is more
particularly delineated on the official map in the office of the
Chief Surveyor, Blenheim. As a resting-place for stock.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 169 acres, more or less,
being section numbered 1857 (in red), situate in Waimate
Survey District, and bounded towards the North by Reserve
701 (in red); towards the North-east by a road-line, 2080 links;
towards the South-east by a road-line, 5770 links; towards
the South-west by a road-line, 2825 links; and towards the
North-west by a line at right angles to south-west boundary,
5090 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the
same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District
Survey Office, Christchurch. For a recreation-ground.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 96 acres, more or less,
being section numbered 2586 (in red), situate in the Tengawi
Survey District. Bounded towards the North-east by Section
33202, 2405 links; towards the South-east by Section 30676,
4001 links; towards the South-west by a road-line, 2405
links; and towards the North-west by a road-line, 4001 links:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is
delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey
Office, Christchurch. For a plantation.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less,
being section numbered 2588 (in red), situate in the Town of
Geraldine, in the Survey District of Geraldine. Bounded
towards the North-cast by High Street, 125 links; towards
the South-east by Section No. 244, 200 links; towards the
South-west by Section No. 243, 125 links; and towards the
North-west by Wilson Street, 200 links be all the aforesaid
linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan
deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For
drainage purposes.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 742 acres 1 rood 20
perches, more or less, being section numbered 2589 (in red),
situate in the Shepherd's Bush Survey District. Bounded
towards the North-cast by section numbered 30306, 9490
links; towards the North-west by section numbered 30139,
6650 links; towards the South-east by section numbered
30306, 6630 links, also by a road-line, 10693 links; and
towards the South-west by a road-line, 18410 links be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less. Save and excepting
section numbered 2130 (in red), situate within the above-
described section. As the same is delineated on the plan
deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a
plantation.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 1330 acres, more or less,
being section numbered 2590 (in red), situate in the Shep-
herd's Bush Survey District. Bounded towards the North-
cast by section numbered 33121, 5970 links; towards the
South-east by a road-line, 25272 links; towards the South-
west by a road-line, 7379 links; and towards the North-west
by Crown lands, 20347 links: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less. Save and excepting sections numbered 2088,
2089, 2090, and 2519 (in red); also a road-line situate within
the above-described section. As the same is delineated on the
plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.
For a plantation.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 306 acres 2 roods, more
or less, being section numbered 2591 (in red), situate in the
Shepherd's Bush Survey District. Bounded towards the
North-east by section numbered 33004, 4209 links, also by
section numbered 32156, 6000 links; towards the North-west
by a road-line, 9944 links; towards the South-east by sections
