A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:

And whereas it is expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the Districts of Wairau and Albert:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Wairau and Albert Districts, which shall henceforth be those described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Wairau.

Bounded towards the North-east by Whangarei County; towards the South-east and South generally by Rodney County to Section No. 28, Paparoa Parish; and towards the North-west generally by the said parish and by Mareretu Parish to Whangarei County.

Albert.

Bounded towards the North by the Parish of Mangawai from the Hakaru River eastward; thence towards the East and South-east by the Parish of Arai to the north-west angle of Section No. 104, of the Parish of Oruawharo; thence by the North-east boundary of said Section No. 104 to the eastern boundary of the Oruawharo Block; thence towards the South-east by the east and south-east boundaries of the said Oruawharo Block to the centre of the road which forms the south-east boundary of Section No. 9, Otamatea Survey District; thence by said road to its junction with the road which forms the south-west boundary of Sections Nos. 9 and 8 of the said district; thence towards the South-west by the centre of the said road to the Paraheke Native Reserve; thence by part of the southern and by the eastern boundary of the said Native reserve to the Waireia Creek, and by said creek and the Wharehine River to Te Tanuka; thence towards the North-west and West by the waters of the Kaipara Harbour to Hobson County; and thence towards the North, North-east, and North-west by the said county.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Land taken for a Road in Awatere Road District, Provincial District of Marlborough.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a road in the Awatere Road District, Provincial District of Marlborough:

And whereas the Awatere Road Board has laid before the Governor the memorial and map mentioned in, and signed and certified as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.

SCHEDULE.

All that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 3 roods, situated in the Survey District of Hodder, being portions of Sections Nos. 34 and 32, in the Crown Grant District of Upper Fairfield Downs, commencing at a point on a public road 10704 links north and 9282 links east from Upcot Reference Geodesical Station. Bounded North-easterly by a road along the side of Grey River; generally South-easterly and Southerly by the top of the cliff along the Awatere River; generally Southerly and South-easterly by lines, 70, 719, 3141, 3715, and 335 links respectively; South-easterly by public road, 200 links; generally North-westerly and Northerly by
