ments for Elections, &c.
in Force on the New Zealand Railways.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by & Proclamation dated the twenty-fifth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three, a portion of the County of Manawatu has been
constituted a new county, called the County of Oroua; and
it is therefore expedient to dissolve the Council of the said
County of Manawatu, and make provision for the election of
a new Council:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers vested in me by "The Counties
Act, 1876," do hereby proclaim and declare that the Council
of the County of Manawatu shall, as from the third day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, be and
the same is hereby dissolved, and that the election of a new
Council for the said county shall take place on the fourth
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three:

And, in further pursuance of the said powers, I determine
that the number of Councillors to be elected by each of the
ridings of the said county shall be as follow: For the
Kawakawa Riding, three members; for the Oroua Riding,
two members for the Horowhenua Riding, one member;
and for the Awahou Riding, three members.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
lington, this thirteenth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN I

IN accordance with section 144 of "The Public Works Act,
1882," I, Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for
Public Works, do hereby fix the following scale of charges for
the purposes specified below, in lieu of that at present in
force, and such scale shall come into force from and after the
23rd day of July, 1883 :-

PART IV.- LOCAL RATES.

NAPIER SECTION.

Class K.-Timber.

White-pine timber consigned from saw-mills to Napier for
shipment direct to Australian ports will be charged 25 per
cent. less than the rates for timber for transhipment; mini-
imum rate, 8d. per 100 superficial feet. Consignments to
this port for transhipment to Australia will be charged the
same rate, upon a statutory declaration being furnished, such
declaration being made under "The Justices of the Peace
Act, 1882," sections 233 and 234, in the form prescribed.

Council, is published in accordance with "The Road
Boards Act, 1882."

RODNEY COUNTY. APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF ROAD
BOARDS.

Ir is hereby notified that the Rodney County Council, in
pursuance of the powers granted by section 37 of "The Road
Boards Act, 1882," did, by resolution passed at a meeting of
the said Council, duly convened and held at their office,
Warkworth, on the 30th June, 1883, appoint the following
members of the respective Boards as follow:-
