quail shall cease to be within the operation of the said Acts
within the Pelorus Road District, excepting in that portion of
the said district bounded on the East by the Waikakaho Stream
from its source to the Wairau River; on the South by the
Wairau River to the Wairan Road District; on the West by
the Wairau Road District to its most northerly point; thence
by a right line to the point of departure at the source of the
Waikakaho Stream.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Reserve. Intended Purpose.
All that piece or parcel of land, con- taining by admeasurement 5 acres 1 rood and 5 perches, more or less, situate in Block V., Hawera Survey District, Pro- vincial District of Taranaki, being part of Section 45, Patea District, commencing at a point 876·2 links South-east from the north-east corner of the said section (marked A on plan). Bounded towards the North-east by Section 37, 845·2 links; and towards the South-east, South-west, and North-west by other part of the said section, 648·7, 800, and 647 links re- spectively, to the commencing point; the said reserve having been made for purposes of the General Government on the 3rd August, 1871. For a site for a cemetery.

this thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three.

Season for Shooting Native Pigeon in Marlborough.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," and "The Animals Protection Act
Amendment Act, 1881," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify
that native pigeons may be taken or killed within the Counties
of Marlborough and Sounds from the first day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first day
of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three.

Trustees appointed for the Maintenance of the Featherston
Public Cemetery.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the sixth section of "The Cemeteries Act, 1882,"
I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the several persons
whose names are specified in the first column of the Schedule
hereto to be Trustees to provide for the maintenance and care
of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the
said Schedule.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve.

WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may
declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the
dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her
Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in
Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be
granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the
authority of section one hundred and forty-four of "The Land
Act, 1877," if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expe-
dient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof
from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set
apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the
Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised
in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated
to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the
Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention
to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may
be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which
the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by
"The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid, declare my
intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve de-
scribed in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the specific
purpose set opposite such description in the second column of
the said Schedule.

Lands permanently reserved.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the Governor may
from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve
from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which, in his
opinion, are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the one hundred and forty-fifth section of the said Act it is provided that iand temporarily reserved under
the said one hundred and forty-fourth section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the
publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent
reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the several warrants the dates of which
are specified in the third column of the said Schedule, and the notifications of which were published in the Gazettes specified in
the fourth column, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for the purposes specified in the second column of
the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the lands so temporarily
reserved as aforesaid, and enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes specified in the second column
of the said Schedule, being the same purposes for which the said lands were so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.
