ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that certain things
required to be done by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," in connection with the making and revision of the
burgess lists or rolls of the Borough of Westport, cannot be
done by or within the time required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority vested
in him by the twelfth section of the said Act, and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby extend the time for the doing of the said
things in connection with the burgess lists or rolls of the said
Borough of Westport, and doth declare that the times for the
doing of such several things shall be those which are specified
in the Schedule hereto annexed.
SCHEDULE.
- For making out the burgess list: On or before the 31st
July, 1883. - Public notification of the burgess list and defaulters' list
being ready for inspection: On the 1st August, 1883. - Burgess list and defaulters' list open for inspection and
delivery of objections thereto: Until the 15th August, 1883. - Inspection of list of objections: From 16th August to the
21st August, 1883. - Sitting of Council to determine claims and objections:
Between the 22nd August and the 31st August, 1883. - Burgess roll to come into force: On the 1st September,

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that the valuation
roll of the Borough of Akaroa was not received from
the Property-Tax Commissioner by the Akaroa Borough
Council within the time limited by "The Rating Act, 1882,"
and the burgess roll of the said borough could not therefore
be made within the times prescribed by "The Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1876": And whereas the said valuation roll has
since been forwarded by the said Commissioner, and the said
burgess roll has since been made, and it is expedient that such
burgess roll should be validated:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers vested in him by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," doth hereby declare that the burgess roll of the said
Borough of Akaroa so made as aforesaid, for the year com-
mencing on the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three, shall be as valid to all intents and purposes
as if the same had been regularly made.

Terms and Conditions of Sale of the Catlin's Ferry Village
Settlement, Otago Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twenty-first section of "The Land Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1879," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon
All that area bounded towards the North-east and South-
east by the Kiwitea Riding, before described, to the Manawatu
River; thence by a line bearing 200° (magnetic) continued
southerly until it intersects a line, being the production of the
north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 253, Block XII.,
Kairanga Survey District; thence towards the South-west by a
right line to and thence by that section and Section No. 254,
Block XII., aforesaid to the north-east corner of the latter
section; thence by a right line across the Manawatu River to
the north-east corner of Te Wi Native Reserve; thence again
towards the South-east by that reserve; again towards the
South-east by that reserve; again towards the South-west and
South-east by Sections Nos. 411, 412, and 413, Township of
Palmerston, Block VIII., Kairanga Survey District, and a road
forming the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 13, 12,
11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, Block VII., Kairanga Survey District, and
of Section No. 56, Block III., of said district to the railway-
line; thence by that railway-line to the Borough of Feilding;
and towards the North-west by that borough and Waituna
Riding before described.
TAONUI RIDING.
All that area bounded towards the North-east by Ashurst
Riding, before described; towards the South-east by the middle
of Manawatu River, and by the Borough of Palmerston North;
and towards the South and generally towards the West by the
County of Manawatu.
FITZHERBERT RIDING.
All that area being that portion of the County of Oroua
not included in the four above-described ridings, and exclusive
of the Borough of Palmerston North.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-fifth day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of June, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in him by
"The Education Act, 1877," the Governor, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony,
doth make the regulation hereto annexed, prescribing the fees
to be paid at certain district high schools; and, with the like
advice and consent, doth prescribe that this order shall take
effect from the date hereof.
REGULATION.
In the District High Schools at Cambridge and Hamilton, in
the Education District of Auckland, the fees for higher educa-
tion, within the meaning of section 56 of "The Education Act,
1877," shall be eight guineas a year.
In the District High Schools at Temuka and Waimate,
in the Education District of South Canterbury, the fees
for higher education, within the meaning of section 56 of
"The Education Act, 1877," shall be—For one subject, ten
shillings a quarter; for two subjects, twelve shillings and six-
pence a quarter; and for three or more subjects, fifteen shillings
a quarter.
