Special Order made by the Cook County Council, altering
Ridings, &c.

THE following special order, made by the Cook County
Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of
"The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

THOMAS DICK.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
I HEREBY certify that the Cook County Council did, at a
special meeting held this 15th day of March, 1883, make a
special order to alter the ridings of the county, and to regulate
the number of members of the Council accordingly, as fol-
lows:-

Order.
That the Ridings of Arai, Waimata, Tolago, and Waiapu be
abolished, and the following constituted:-

  1. Arai Riding: To contain the Arai and Patutahi Road
    Districts, and the outlying district from the southern boundary
    of the Waikohu Road District to the southern and western
    boundaries of the county.
  2. Waikohu Riding: To contain the Waikohu Road Dis-
    trict.
  3. Tolago Riding: To contain the Turanganui Road District,
    and the outlying district between the boundaries of the Wai-
    kohu and Turanganui Road Districts as far as the northern
    boundaries of the Ngatawakawaka, Mangatokerau, and Anaura
    Blocks to the sea.
  4. Waiapu Riding: To consist of the outlying district ex-
    tending from the northern boundaries of the Waikohu and
    Turanganui Road Districts, and the Ngatawakawaka, Manga-
    tokerau, and Anaura Blocks, to the northern, eastern, and
    western boundaries of the county.
    That the number of Councillors be nine.
    That three members be allowed for the Gisborne Riding.
    That two members be allowed for the Arai Riding.
    That two members be allowed for the Waikohu Riding.
    That one member be allowed for the Tolago Riding.
    That one member be allowed for the Waiapu Riding.
    That the members now sitting for Waimata Riding (abolished)
    be the representatives of the Waikohu Riding.
    That the members sitting for Gisborne, Arai, Tolago, and
    Waiapu Ridings retain their respective seats.

THE following special order, made by the Council of the
County of Clutha, is published in accordance with the
provisions of "The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.
WHEREAS the Clutha County Council did, at an ordinary
meeting held on the 25th May, 1883, pass the following resolu-
tion, namely, "That this Council, by special order, declare the
South Molyneux Road Board to be dissolved, and the road
district merged into county on and after the 20th day of June,
1883."

the Clutha County Council that the South Molyneux Road
District be merged in the Clutha County.

SPECIAL ORDER.
Palmerston, 6th June, 1883.
SIR, -I have the honour to inform you, in accordance with
section 146 of "The Counties Act, 1876," that a poll of the
ratepayers of the several ridings of the Waihemo County was
taken on the 26th day of May ultimo, for the purpose of
the Waihemo County Council to raise a special loan of £2,000
for the following purposes, viz., £1,000 (or such sum as may
be found necessary) to be applied to the discharge of the liabili-
ties of the Palmerston, Waihemo, and Dunback Road Districts,
in the event of the said road districts being merged in the
county, and the balance of such sum to be applied towards
placing in an efficient state of repair the various roads in the
Bushey, Goodwood, Meadow Bank, and Blue Mountain
Ridings.
The result of the poll being favourable, the proposal of the
Council has been publicly notified as carried. I have there-
fore to respectfully request that the same may be gazetted as
required by the Act.
Annexed hereto is a certified statement of the result of the
poll.

GENTLEMEN, -I hereby certify the following to be a correct
statement of the result of the poll of the ratepayers, taken
within the several ridings of Waihemo County, on the 26th day
of May, 1883, relative to the proposal of the Waihemo County
Council to raise a special loan of £2,000:-

Number of votes recorded for the proposal 226

Tauhoa Road District.

THE following special order, made by the Rodney County
Council, is published in accordance with "The Counties
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT the Tanhoa Road District boundaries be altered by
detaching all that portion lying on the south side of the Hoteo
River.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed
at a special meeting of the Rodney County Council, on Monday,
the 28th May, and was publicly notified as per clause 32 of
"The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

THE following by-laws, made by the Lake County Council,
are published in accordance with "The Counties Act 1876
Amendment Act, 1882."

BY-LAW No. 6.
Slaughterhouses.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in them by "The Slaughter-
houses Act, 1877," the Council of the Lake County ordain as
follows:-

  1. The whole of section No. 6 of By-law No. 4, made by the
    Council of Lake County on the 28th day of May, 1877, and
    which came into force on the 11th day of June, 1877, is hereby
    repealed. The said Council doth hereby make the following in
    lieu thereof:-
    License-fee.
    For every license there shall be paid the licensee to
    the County Fund a fee of £2 10s., and each license shall remain
    in force from the date thereof until the 31st day of December
    then next ensuing and no longer.
