Ordinary Licensing Districts defined.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act,
1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon
conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act,
by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define dis-
tricts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time
to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Heathcote
Licensing District, which shall henceforth be those described in
the First Schedule hereto, and proclaim and define the parts of
the colony mentioned and described in the Second Schedule
hereto to be ordinary licensing districts for the purposes of the
said Act.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Heathcote.—Bounded on the Northward by the Avon Licensing
District, the Borough of Sydenham, and the Borough of Christ-
church; on the Eastward by the sea; on the Southward by the
Akaroa County; and on the Westward by the River Halswell
to the Old River-bed, and the west edge of the Old River-bed
to the Great South Road, the place of commencement: exclusive
of the Woolston Licensing District, hereinafter described.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Woolston.—All that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, situated in the Christchurch Survey District, and bounded
towards the North-east from Hargood's Road by a canal re-
serve, and by the south-west boundary-line of said reserve
produced to the Heathcote Estuary; towards the East by high
water mark of said estuary to the River Heathcote; towards
the South and South-west generally by the centre of said river
to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Navigation
Street; and towards the North-west by a right line to and by
said side of said street, and that side produced to the north-
eastern side of Ferry Road, and by said road and by Hargood's
Road to the Canal Reserve, the place of commencement.
Sumner.—All that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, situated in the Sumner Survey District, bounded towards
the North-east generally by the high-water mark of Avon and
Heathcote Estuary and the ocean, from Section No. 23780 to
Section No. 532; thence towards the South-east by Sections
Nos. 532, 3987, 3955, and 21418; towards the South-west by
Section No. 15420, and that section-boundary produced across
the road; towards the North-west, again towards the South-
west, again towards the North-west, South, and again towards
the South-east by Section No. 24077; again towards the South-
west by Sections Nos. 10323, 18430, 33904, 24012, 24011, and
23780, and the northern boundary-line of Section No. 23780
produced to high-water mark, first mentioned: as the same is
delineated on the plans in the Survey Office, Christchurch.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House at Wellington,
this fifteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in the West Coast
(North Island) Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of “The Land Act,
1877,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation in
the Gazette, may from time to time set apart out of any suburban
or rural lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall think
fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred payments, and
in such Proclamation may fix a day on which the land shall be
open for application:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the above-
named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on deferred
payments; and that Monday, the thirtieth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, shall be the day on
which the said land shall be open for application, in allotments
as surveyed and marked on the selection-map in the principal
Land Office of the district.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of “The Land
Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby fix the price at
