I, the undersigned, hereby make application to register the Darwin Gold-Mining Company as a Limited Company under the provisions of “The Mining Companies Act, 1872.”

  1. The name of the Company is to be the Darwin Gold-Mining Company (Limited).

  2. The place of operations is at Waiotahi, Thames, in the Provincial District of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

  3. The registered office of the Company will be situated at the New Zealand Insurance Company’s Buildings, Auckland, in the Provincial District of Auckland and Colony of New Zealand.

  4. The nominal capital of the Company is thirteen thousand two hundred pounds sterling, in thirteen thousand two hundred shares of one pound sterling each.

  5. The number of shares subscribed for is thirteen thousand two hundred, being the entire number of shares in the Company.

  6. The number of paid-up shares is nil.

  7. The amount already paid up is nil.

  8. The name of the Manager is Roderick McDonald Scott.

IN THE MATTER OF “THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1882.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken by the Road Board of the Springs Road District for the purposes of a drain, to be constructed therein by the said Board, and otherwise for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the drainage works within the said road district; and, further, that a plan showing the said lands, together with the names of the owners and occupiers thereof, has been deposited and is now open for inspection at the office of the said Road Board, at Springs-ton, in the County of Selwyn. And notice is hereby further given to all persons affected to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections which they may have to the execution of the said works or to the taking of such land, and to send such writing within forty days from the fourteenth day of June, 1883, being the date of the first publication of this notice, to the said Road Board.

Lot 1: All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 9 perches, being part of Rural Section 5608, situate in the Springs Road District, commencing at a point on the east side of the Lake Road, the same point being 1237·9 links south from a point on the east side of the said road, and 100 links in continuation of northern boundary of Section 5628; thence at a right angle following northern boundary of drain a distance of 1216 links to the intersection of the Little River Railway; thence following south-west boundary of Little River Railway a distance of 30·4 links; thence following southern boundary of drain a distance of 1233·5 links to intersection of the Lake Road; and from thence along the east side of Lake Road to the commencing point a distance of 25 links.

Lot 2: All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 5·3 perches, being part of Rural Section 5608, situate in the Springs Road District, commencing at a point on the north-east side of Little River Railway Reserve, the same point being 1337·8 links north-east of the Lake Road, and in continuation of northern boundary of Lot 1; thence following northern boundary of drain a distance of 1163·1 links; and from thence at an angle of 169° 26′ a distance of 2490·3 links; and from thence a distance of 503·8 links at an angle of 122° 2′ to intersection of Blake’s Road; from thence following in a south-westerly direction along north-west side of Blake’s Road a distance of 25 links; from thence following southern boundary of drain a distance of 490 links at an angle of 89° 45′ from Blake’s Road; from thence at an angle of 122° 2′ a distance of 2474·2 links; and from thence at an angle of 169° 26′ a distance of 1147·9 links; and from thence following along north-east side of Little River Railway a distance of 30·4 links to the commencing point.

Lot 3: All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 29 perches, being part of Rural Section 8174, situate in the Springs Road District, commencing at the northernmost corner of Rural Section 8174, the same point being on the south-east side of Blake’s Road; following from thence at a right angle from said road along south-west boundary of Section 5609 a distance of 4000 chains; and from thence in the same straight line through Section 8174 a distance of 732·5 links to its intersection with the road forming the south-east boundary of Section 8174; from thence along north-west side of said road at an angle of 58° 14′ a distance of 29·4 links; and from thence following south-west boundary of drain a distance of 4717 links to Blake’s Road; and from thence at a right angle along south-east side of Blake’s Road 25 links to the commencing point.
