respect of such of the matters following as may be done in
relation to the said reserves, that is to say,-
There shall be deducted from all moneys received by the
Public Trustee on account of the said reserves a commission of
ten pounds per centum on the total amount so received in any
way whatsoever in the course of his management of the said
reserves, together with a further commission of ten per centum
on the first year's rent only, for the purpose of defraying the
expenditure necessarily arising upon the initiation of the system
of leasing and of the management of of the said reserves.
The Public Trustee may make a charge of not more than five
pounds for and in respect of the examination, inspection,
record, or approval of any leases, deeds, or other documents
relating to any of the said reserves, or in the payment of any
fees or expenses incurred by him incidental thereto, as to which
no official charge is authorized to be made; and such charge
shall be made irrespective of the fee of one pound payable by
the lessee of any reserve or portion thereof under regulation
seventeen of the regulations made under the said Act, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the fifteenth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, or
any regulation in substitution thereof, provided that such first-
named charge shall not be made on the first issue of any lease.

Regulations under the Natives Reserves Act.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of
June, 1883.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Native Reserves Act, 1882," it is
provided that the Governor in Council may from time
to time make regulations under the thirteenth section of "The
Public Trust Office Act, 1872," for the administration of
Native reserves under the first-named Act, and for fixing the
charges to be paid as cost for managing the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by
the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with the con-
sent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following
regulations and directions set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ON and after the 1st April, 1883, the following fees shall be
payable to or retainable, as the case may be, by the Public
Trust Office:-

  1. For the management of all lands subject to the operation
    of "The Native Reserves Act, 1882," including collection of
    rents, and all other duties appertaining thereto, a sum equal to
    10 per cent. on the net collections shall be deducted and
    retained out of all moneys accruing to the credit of all such
    lands respectively for the purposes aforesaid.

  2. A fee of one pound, exclusive of stamp duty and regis-
    tration, shall be paid to the Public Trustee by each lessee
    on any lease executed in his favour, likewise a fee of ten
    shillings upon any assignment or other disposition of any
    leasehold.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Cambridge-Rotorua
Road shall and may be constructed on or through the several
parcels of land more particularly described in the Schedule
hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, de-
posited in the office of the Minister for Public Works at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the
said colony.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point on the south-eastern boundary of
Section No. 5 of Maraeroa-Oturoa Block, No. 5478, in the Roto-
rua Survey District, and proceeding thence in a generally south-
easterly direction for a distance of 8 miles 69 chains or there-
abouts, and terminating at a point on the Rotorua and Tauranga
Road, near the Ngungotaha Creek, passing in, into, through, or
over the following lands: Native land and Maniaroa-Puruha
Block, No. 5171: the above-described road not to be less than 1
chain wide; as the same is more particularly delineated upon
the plan marked P.W.D. 10013, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington.

land, North Island.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land situate in the Survey Districts of Kawa-
kawa and Hukerenui, Provincial District of Auckland, being a
road-line, 1 chain wide, running in a southerly direction for
a distance of 318 chains or thereabouts from a point on the
Ruapekapeka Road distant 320 links or thereabouts from the
south-eastern angle of the Kawakawa Coal Company's ground
to the north-western boundary of the Hukerenui Block, except-
ing that portion of the aforesaid road which traverses the Edu-
cation Reserve, near the Native village of Waiomio; as the same
is delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that road-line commencing at a point in the north-eastern
boundary of the Waitangi Block, and continuing generally in a
north-westerly direction for 5841 links to the south-western
boundary of the Makarau Block, and containing by admeasure-
ment 5 acres 3 roods 15 perches, more or less,
