No. 31374, commencing at a point on the southern
boundary of said section 383 links distant from the
south-eastern corner thereof. Bounded by right
lines as follows: South-easterly, 228 links; North
-easterly by the north-eastern boundary of said sec-
tion, 100 links; North-westerly, 227 links; South-
easterly by a public road to commencing point, 100
links.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 4 acres 2 roods 25 perches, being
portion of Section No. 31314, commencing at a point
on the northern boundary of said section 595 links
distant from the north-west corner thereof. Bounded
by right lines as follows: North-westerly, 3962 links;
North-easterly 25 links to the terrace of the Wai-
tohi River, by said terrace to the northern bank of
said river, by said river, in all a distance of about 650
links; South-easterly by a line, 4509 links; North-
easterly by the northern boundary of said section to
commencing point, 100 links.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 14 acres 1 rood 13 perches, being
portion of Crown land, commencing at a point on the
north side of the road forming the northern boundary
of Section No. 31314 445 links from a point opposite
to and being the prolongation of the north-eastern
boundary of Section No. 31314 aforesaid. Bounded
as follows: North-westerly by a right line, 1513
links; North-easterly by a right line, 150 links;
generally Westerly by a right line 1081 links, by
a curved line 1185 links, by a right line 6184 links;
Northerly by a right line, 100 links; Easterly by a
right line 6184 links, by a curved line 1225 links, by
a right line 1081 links; North-easterly by a right
line, 150 links; South-easterly by a line, 1487 links;
South-westerly by a public road to commencing point,
401 links: save and except portion of public road
included in above description, due allowance for
which has been made in the area.
The above areas and linkages being either more or
less, and the several parcels of land being situate in
the Survey District of Waipara, Provincial District
of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand, and are more
particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D.
9357, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
W
HEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the authority
of sections one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred
and twenty-three, and one hundred and twenty-four of "The
Public Works Act, 1876," the middle line of a further portion
of the line of railway from Foxton to New Plymouth (Waverley
to Patea Section), being one of the railways specified in "The
Public Works Act, 1879," was defined: And whereas pursuant
to the one hundred and twenty-fifth section of "The Public
Works Act, 1876," the Minister for Public Works has caused
to be made and, on the fourteenth and eighteenth days of
January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, to be
deposited in the offices of the Registrars of the Supreme
Court at Wellington and New Plymouth, in the Provincial Dis-
tricts of Wellington and Taranaki, such maps and plans as were
necessary to explain the said further portion of the said line of
railway and the land through which the same passes, and such
maps and plans were referred to in such Proclamation as afore-
said: And whereas "The Public Works Act, 1879," enacts
that such of the railways mentioned therein as are unfinished
may be completed under the provisions of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," and "The Public Works Act, 1879:" And whereas the
two hundred and twenty-ninth section of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," enacts as follows: Any public work authorized
under the authority of any Act repealed by this Act, or of any
Act or Ordinance repealed by "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
and any land required to be taken, purchased, or acquired for
such work, or anything commenced under any such authority
as aforesaid, may be continued, taken, purchased, or acquired,
executed, carried out, enforced, and completed under the provi-
sions of this Act: And whereas the land described in the
Schedule hereto is required to be taken for the said further por-
tion of the said line of railway from Foxton to New Plymouth:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred by sections one hundred
and thirty and two hundred and twenty-nine of "The Public
Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in
anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken
for the said further portion of the said line of railway.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
10 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Wairoa, Provincial District of Wellington, being
portion of Section No. 337, commencing at a point on the
eastern boundary of said Section No. 337 distant 1664 links
from the north-eastern corner thereof. Bounded-Generally
Northerly by lines, 850, 4810, and 4969 links; generally
South-westerly by the south-western boundary of said section,
119 links; generally Southerly by lines, 4907, 4436, 740, and
475 links; generally Easterly by the eastern boundary of said
section, 108 links, to starting point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
1 acre and 30 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Wairoa, Provincial District of Wellington, being
portion of Section No. 338, commencing at a point on the
north-eastern boundary of said section distant 586 links from
the northernmost corner thereof. Bounded Generally
Northerly by a line, 1078 links; generally North-westerly by
the main road forming the north-western boundary of said
section, 184 links; generally Southerly by a line, 1296 links;
generally North-easterly by the north-eastern boundary of said
section, 119 links, to the starting point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
32 perches, more or less, being portion of the main road from
Patea to Waverley. Bounded towards the North and South
by other portions of said road, 190 links and 190 links; towards
the North-west by Section No. 153, 184 links; and South-west
by Section No. 338, 184 links.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
1 acre 1 rood 15 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Wairoa, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
being portion of Section No. 153, commencing at a point on the
road forming the south-eastern boundary of said Sec-
tion No. 153, the said point being distant 1780 links
from the south-eastern corner thereof. Bounded-Gene-
rally Southerly by lines, 378 and 866 links, to western
boundary of section; generally Westerly by said western
boundary of section, 120 links; generally Northerly by lines
1020 and 331 links, to the main road forming south-eastern
boundary of section; generally South-easterly by said road,
184 links, to the starting point.
