Importation of Grape-vines, Grape-vine Cuttings, and Grapes
prohibited.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixty-seventh section of "The Customs
Laws Consolidation Act, 1882," it is, among other things,
enacted that the importation of arms, ammunition, gunpowder,
or any other goods may be prohibited by Proclamation or Order
in Council: And whereas it is expedient that the importation
of the goods hereinafter mentioned should be prohibited:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the said power and authority, do hereby order
and proclaim that the importation into New Zealand of grape-
vines, grape-vine cuttings, and grapes shall be and the same is
prohibited.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir James
Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, the Adminis
trator of the Government of Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Govern
ment House, at Wellington, this tenth day of
January, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880," I, James
Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing
marriage districts known as the Greytown, Masterton, and
Castlepoint Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the
territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby
divided anew into four marriage districts, the names and
boundaries whereof shall be as follow:β
GREYTOWN DISTRICT.
All that area in the Provincial District of Wellington,
bounded towards the North-west by the summit of the Tararua
and Rimutaka Ranges to Cape Turakirae; towards the South
and South-east by the ocean to the River Waihingaia; thence
towards the North-east by a right line to Mount Adams;
thence by a right line to Trig. Station Maungaraki; thence
by a right line to the north-east corner of Section No. 40,
Huangaroa Survey District; thence by Sections Nos. 40, 38, 61,
60, 58, 56, and the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 5 and
6, Ahiaruhe Block, to the Ruamahanga River; thence by said
river to its confluence with the Waiohine River; thence
towards the North-east by said river to its source, thence by a
right line due west to the summit of the Tararua Ranges.
CARTERTON DISTRICT.
All that area in the Provincial District of Wellington,
bounded towards the North-east by a right line from the summit
of the Tararua Ranges to the source of the Waingawa River,
by said river to the Ruamahanga River, by said river to the
Tauheru River; thence northerly by said river to Section No.
95, Otahoua Survey District; thence by Sections Nos. 05, 105,
104, 103, and 102 to its south-eastern corner; thence by a right
line due south to the Te Kahu Block; by said block thence by
Waioterangi Creek to Section No. 69, by said Section No. 69
and Section No. 49 to the north-east corner of Section No. 50;
thence by Sections Nos. 65, 64, 74, and 80, Otahoua Survey
District, to the Kuamallanga Stream; thence by said stream to
the southernmost corner of Section No. 130, Wainuioru Survey
District; thence by a right line running in an easterly direction
to the nearest bend of the Kaiwhata River; thence by said
river to the ocean; towards the South-east by the ocean to the
mouth of the Waihingaia River; towards the South-west by
the Greytown Registration District; and towards the North-
west by the summit of the Tararua Ranges.
MASTERTON DISTRICT.
All that area in the Provincial District of Wellington,
bounded towards the North and North-east by the Manawatu
and Tiraumea Rivers, and the Waitawhiti Stream; thence by
Sections Nos. 174 and 175, Puketoi Survey District, and the
eastern boundary-line of Educational Reserve No. 151, to the
Tauheru River; thence by said river to Section No. 299,
Mangapakeha Survey District; thence by Sections Nos. 789,
812, 869, 870, 871, 875, 874, 876, 865, 725, 729, 268, and the
Mangapokia River, to the Whareama River; thence by said
river to the ocean; towards the South-east by the ocean to the
Kaiwhata River; towards the South-west by the Carterton
Registration District to the Tararua Ranges; and towards the
North-west by the summit of the said Tararua Ranges to the
Manawatu River.
CASTLEPOINT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Provincial District of Wellington,
bounded towards the North by the Provincial District of
Hawke's Bay; towards the South-east by the ocean; and
towards the South-west and West by the Masterton Registration
District.
