IN THE MATTER OF "THE PUBLIC WORKS
ACT, 1882."

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands described in the
Schedule hereto are required to be taken by the Kowai
Road Board, for the purpose of supplying gravel and shingle
for the use of the public roads in the Kowai Road District, and
otherwise for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the said
public roads; and that a plan showing the said lands, together
with the name of the owner and occupier thereof, has been
deposited and is now open for inspection at the office of the
said Road Board, at Balcairn, in the Provincial District of
Canterbury. And notice is hereby further given to all persons
who shall or may be affected by the taking of the said lands to
set forth in writing any well-grounded objections that they may
have to the taking of such lands, and to send such written
objections (if any) to the said Road Board on or before the
10th day of July, 1883.

THE SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 5 acres
or thereabouts, be the same more or less, being part of the
Sections Nos. 2765 and 10692 on the map or plan of the Chief
Surveyor of the Land District of Canterbury, setting out and
describing the rural land in the County of Ashley; commencing
at a point on the common boundary of the above-mentioned
sections where the southern boundary of the road passing
through Section 2765 crosses it; thence south-easterly and in a
straight line along the south boundary of the said road, with a
bearing of 124° 23′, to a point being a junction of roads within
Section 10692, and at a distance of 175 links; thence south-
westerly and in a straight line, with a bearing of 215° 52′, along
the westernmost boundary of the road passing through Section
10692 to a point, being a distance of 707·2 links; thence north-
westerly and in a straight line, with a bearing of 124° 23′, to a
point within Section 2765, being a distance of 698·8 links;
thence north-easterly and in a straight line, with a bearing of
34° 23′, to a point on the southern side of the before-mentioned
road, being a distance of 707 links; thence south-easterly, with
a bearing of 124° 23′, along the south side of the said road to
the commencing point, being a distance of 542·1 links.

In the goods of ROBERT STANTON and ALEXANDER STANTON,
supposed to be deceased.

TO ROBERT STANTON, formerly of Ballyforlea, in the County
of Londonderry, then of Newry, in the County of Down,
Ireland, subsequently of Melbourne, in Australia, and after-
wards of Otago, in New Zealand, his wife, child, execu-
tors, administrators, or assigns, if any; and to ALEXANDER
STANTON, formerly of Ballyforlea and Newry aforesaid, and
afterwards of Otago aforesaid, his wife, child, executors,
administrators, or assigns, if any.

WHEREAS an application was made by NATHANIEL
STANTON, of Ballyforlea aforesaid, Farmer (a brother
and one of the next-of-kin of said ROBERT STANTON and
ALEXANDER STANTON), for grants of administration to the
goods of said Robert Stanton and Alexander Stanton, who are
supposed to be dead: Now take notice that the said Robert
Stanton, if living, would be entitled to a sum of £285 14s. as
his part or share of his late father's assets; and said Alexander
Stanton, if living, would be entitled to a sum of £317 6s., also
part of his late father's assets: and unless the said Robert
Stanton and Alexander Stanton, their or either of their wives,
children, executors, administrators, or assigns, if any, shall
apply by letter or otherwise to WILLIAM J. VENABLES, of 29,
Lower Gardiner Street, Dublin, Ireland, solicitor for said
Nathaniel Stanton, within four months after the insertion of
this advertisement, letters of administration of the goods of
said Robert Stanton and Alexander Stanton respectively,
as of persons who had died intestate, will be granted to
said Nathaniel Stanton.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto exist-
ing between REGINALD BLUNDEN, Bennett's, and WILLIAM
EDMUND LEACH, Cust, Canterbury, as Farmers, at Leigh Farm,
Bennett's, is hereby dissolved by mutual consent as from the 1st
September, 1881.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership between the
undersigned ROBERT JAMES PITCHERS and WILLIAM
BAIN, in the trade or business of Butchers, at Benger Flat, in
the County of Tuapeka, under the firm of "W. Bain and Co.,"
was this day dissolved by mutual consent; and in future the
business will be carried on by the said William Bain on his
separate account, and who will pay and receive all debts owing
from and to the said partnership in the regular course of trade.
