Sheriff Districts defined.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the third section of "The Sheriffs Act,
1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor, and for no other person, to define the districts
within which the jurisdiction of the several Sheriffs shall be
exercised, and the limits of such districts from time to time to
alter as occasion may he:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me
in this behalf, proclaim and declare that, from and after the
fourth day of June next, the boundaries of the Sheriffs' Districts
of Auckland and Hawke's Bay shall be altered, and that thence-
forth the boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries described
in the First Schedule hereto; and I do further proclaim and
define the district described in the Second Schedule hereto to
be, on and from the said fourth day of June next, a Sheriff's
district under the provisions of "The Sheriffs Act, 1858."

FIRST SCHEDULE.

THE SHERIFF'S DISTRICT OF AUCKLAND

COMPRISES the whole of the Provincial District of Auckland,
with the exception of that part thereof contained in the
Sheriffs' Districts of Poverty Bay and Hawke's Bay, hereinafter
defined.

THE SHERIFF'S DISTRICT OF HAWKE'S BAY

Comprises the whole of the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay,
and the County of Wairoa, together with the adjacent islands.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

THE SHERIFF'S DISTRICT OF POVERTY BAY

COMPRISES all that area known as the County of Cook, together
with the Borough of Gisborne.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland,
this twenty-third day of May, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of
April, 1883.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Great North Road
shall and may be constructed on or through the several parcels
of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and
delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land situate in the Survey Districts of Kawa-
kawa and Hukerenui, Provincial District of Auckland, being a
road-line, 1 chain wide, running in a southerly direction for
a distance of 318 chains or thereabouts from a point on the
Ruapekapeka Road distant 320 links or thereabouts from the
south-eastern angle of the Kawakawa Coal Company's ground
to the north-western boundary of the Hukerenui Block, except-
ing that portion of the aforesaid road which traverses the Edu-
cation Reserve, near the Native village of Waiomio; as the same
is delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of
April, 1883.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL,

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by

anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the
Government work known as the West Coast Road shall and
may be constructed on or through the several parcels of land
more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and de-
lineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 9925, deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that road-line commencing at a point in the north-eastern
boundary of the Waitangi Block, and continuing generally in a
north-westerly direction for 5844 links to the south-western
boundary of the Makarau Block, and containing by admeasure-
ment 5 acres 3 roods 15 perches, more or less.

And again, all that road line commencing at a point in the
western boundary of the Makarau Block, and continuing gene-
rally in a north-westerly direction for 2427 links to the south-
eastern boundary of the Tuhirangi Block, and containing by
admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 28 perches, more or less.

And again, all that road-line commencing at a point in the
northern boundary of the Tuhirangi Block, and continuing
generally in a northerly direction for 15743 links to the south-
east corner of Lot No. 110, Parish of Komokoriki, and containing
by admeasurement 15 acres 2 roods 38 perches, more or less;
the above parcels of land being situate in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Auckland; as the same is delineated on the plan marked
P.W.D. 9925, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

Extension of Time for Preparation of Burgess Roll,
Borough of Kumara.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of May, 1883.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that the rate struck
by the Council of the Borough of Kumara under "The
Rating Act, 1882," is invalid by reason of the Town Clerk,
having, by accident, neglected to give due notice of the de-
faulters' list and the burgess list being open for inspection
between the first day of April and the fifteenth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, as required by
the forty-second section of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876:" And whereas it is expedient to extend the times
for doing the several things that are required to be done in
connection with the burgess list of the said borough:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and
authority vested in him by the twelfth section of the said
last-mentioned Act, and by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend
the time for the doing of the said things in connection with
the burgess roll or rolls of the said Borough of Kumara, and
doth declare that the times for the doing of such several things
shall be those which are specified in the Schedule hereto an-
nexed,
