towards the North-west by a line bearing 207Β° 12β² (true), 20360
links: excepting out of the hereinbefore-described area a Native
reserve situate at the south-western corner of the block, in the
Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, and containing by ad-
measurement 4,973 acres, more or less.
TE UMUKERERU NO. 1.
All that parcel of land in the Wainuioru Survey District,
in the Wairarapa West County, in the Provincial District of
Wellington, known by the name of Te Umukereru No. 1,
containing by admeasurement 500 acres, more or less. Bounded
towards the North by the Tikiwhakairo Block 3002 links, and
the Matiti Stream; towards the East and South by the
Wainuioru Stream; and towards the West by other part of the
Tikiwhakairo Block, 10319 links.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland,
this fourteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord

Altering Boundaries of Counties of Waikouaiti and Waihemo.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in me by
section seven of "The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1882," and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in
that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after
the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three, all that portion of land mentioned and described in the
First Schedule hereto shall be added to the County of Wai-
kouaiti, and that from and after the said date the boundaries of
the said County of Waikouaiti shall be those set forth in the
Second Schedule hereto; and that from the date aforesaid the
boundaries of the County of Waihemo shall be those set forth
in the Third Schedule hereto respectively.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago, situate in
Blocks II. and VII., Hawksbury Survey District. Bounded
towards the North by Moeraki Survey District and the Borough
of Palmerston; thence towards the East by the eastern side of
the Main North Road to Pleasant River; and thence towards
the South-west generally by that river to the Moeraki Survey
District aforesaid, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
WAIKOUAITI COUNTY.
BOUNDED towards the North by Section No. 1, Block III.,
Strath-Taieri Survey District, from the intersection of its
southern boundary by a line drawn between the Hummock
(Trig. D) and the south-eastern corner of Run No. 205, by
Section No. 2, Block VI., Budle District; towards the North-
east by a road forming the eastern boundary of Sections Nos. 1
and 8, Block VII., Strath-Taieri District; again towards the
North by the old boundary-line of Run No. 250 to the Nen-
thorn River; thence towards the North-west by the right bank
of the Nenthorn River aforesaid and the north-western
boundary-line of Run No. 121B to Block I., Highlay Survey
District; thence towards the North-east by that block and the
left bank of the Waikouaiti River to the intersection of the
latter by a right line due west from Taieri Peak; thence again
towards the North generally by Dunback and Moeraki Survey
Districts and the Borough of Palmerston to the Main North
Road; thence towards the East and again towards the North-
east by the eastern side of that road to Annan's Creek, and
by the left bank of that creek and of Pleasant River to the
ocean; thence towards the South-east and again towards the
North-east and South-east by the ocean and Otago Harbour to
the easternmost corner of the Borough of West Harbour;
thence towards the South by the Borough of West Harbour
aforesaid; thence towards the South-west and again towards
the South-east by the Borough of North-East Valley; thence
again towards the South-west and North-west and South by the
Borough of Maori Hill to Trig. S, Swampy Hill; thence again
towards the South-west by a right line to Silver Peak;
thence by a right line to the Hummock (Trig. D) aforesaid;
and thence by a right line to the place of commencement:
exclusive of the Boroughs of Port Chalmers and West Hawks-
bury.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
WAIHEMO COUNTY.
BOUNDED towards the North by the Waitaki County, from
Kakanui Peak to the ocean; thence towards the East by the
ocean to Pleasant River; thence towards the South and West
by Pleasant River and Annan's Creek to the Main North
Road; thence towards the West by the said Main North Road
to the Borough of Palmerston; thence again towards the
South by the Hawksbury Survey District to and by the Plea-
sant River aforesaid; thence again towards the West by a line
running due north to Taieri Peak; thence again towards the
South by a right line running due west to the Waikouaiti
River; thence by the said Waikouaiti River to the southern
boundary-line of Block I., Highlay Survey District; thence by
Budle Survey District to the western boundary of Run No.
121B; thence towards the South-east by said Run No. 121B
and the Nenthorn River; thence again towards the South by
Run No. 307, and by a line being part of a right line drawn
from the Hummock to the Taieri River, at the south-eastern
corner of Run No. 205; thence by the centre of that river to
Horse Burn; thence by the centre of that stream to the Fork,
and by a right line from the said Fork to Flat Hill; thence
by the summit of a leading ridge to the main road; thence by a
line to the nearest branch of the Shag River, flowing south-
westerly, by that river to its source; and thence by a right
line to Kakanui Peak, the starting-point: exclusive of the
Borough of Palmerston.

April, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Great North Road
shall and may be constructed on or through the several parcels
of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and
delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land situate in the Survey Districts of Kawa-
kawa and Hukerenui, Provincial District of Auckland, being a
road-line, 1 chain wide, running in a southerly direction for
a distance of 318 chains or thereabouts from a point on the
Ruapekapeka Road distant 320 links or thereabouts from the
south-eastern angle of the Kawakawa Coal Company's ground
to the north-western boundary of the Hukerenui Block, except-
ing that portion of the aforesaid road which traverses the Edu-
cation Reserve, near the Native village of Waiomio; as the same
is delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington.
