NOTICE TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.
To the Mining Registrar at Hokitika, and all other persons whom it may concern.
TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race and divert water for mining purposes, commencing at a point on the south side of Doughtown Hill, about two miles south of Humphrey’s Gully, on the south side of the hill between Humphrey’s Gully and the Kanieri River, and about a mile and a half north of that river.
The length of such race is one mile sixty-five chains or thereabouts.
The depth of such race is to be 3 feet, and the breadth 4 feet, and it is proposed to divert fourteen heads of water.
Dated at Hokitika, this 27th day of April, 1883.

NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at the ensuing session thereof, for leave to bring in a Bill to be intituled “An Act to enable the Geraldine County Council to construct Works for supplying Water for the Use of the Ratepayers in various Parts of the County of Geraldine;” and that the objects of such Bill will be to enable the County Council of the Geraldine County,—

To declare any part of the said county to be a district for the purposes of the said Bill.

With consent of the ratepayers in a district to purchase or construct waterworks.

To raise a loan for constructing such works.

To impose and levy separate rates on the districts respectively.

To enter lands in the said county for the purpose of making surveys and plans to any proposed waterworks.

To take lands under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1882.”

To break up surface of land, roads, &c., for the purpose of constructing waterworks.

To divert and lead away water from any river, stream, or natural watercourse.

To make by-laws referring to the supply of water from such waterworks.
And notice is hereby given that copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Examiner’s Office within fourteen days after the commencement of the said session.
