the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Great North Road
shall and may be constructed on or through the several parcels
of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and
delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land situate in the Survey Districts of Kawa-
kawa and Hukerenui, Provincial District of Auckland, being a
road-line, 1 chain wide, running in a southerly direction for
a distance of 318 chains or thereabouts from a point on the
Ruapekapeka Road distant 320 links or thereabouts from the
south-eastern angle of the Kawakawa Coal Company's ground
to the north-western boundary of the Hukerenui Block, except-
ing that portion of the aforesaid road which traverses the Edu-
cation Reserve, near the Native village of Waiomio; as the same
is delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9921, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington.

standing anything contained in "The Public Reserves Sale Act
1878," it shall be lawful for the Governor to set apart, out of
the lands described in the First Schedule to the Act last named,
any area or areas not exceeding in the whole five thousand
acres, and to dispose of the same under the provisions of "The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," relating to village
settlements: And whereas the Governor has, by Proclamation
in the New Zealand Gazette, bearing date the twenty-third
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three,
set apart the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto for sale
as a village settlement for cash and upon deferred payments:
And whereas by an Order in Council issued on the twenty-
ninth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two,
it was directed that the land described in the Schedules hereto
should be sold as land of special value in one section for cash:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke the said Order in
Council, and to make fresh terms and conditions for the dis-
posal of the land as a village settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities aforesaid, doth hereby revoke the said
Order in Council, dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, and doth order and
direct that the land which is described in the Schedules num-
bered I. and II. hereto shall be sold upon the following terms,
that is to say,-

  1. The several parcels of land described in Schedule I. hereto
    shall be submitted to auction as land of special value, in sec-
    tions as shown on the official map in the Survey Office, Christ-
    church, at the upset prices set opposite thereto respectively.
  2. The several parcels of land described in Schedule II.
    hereto shall be submitted to auction as suburban land on de-
    ferred payments at the upset price set opposite thereto respec-
    tively.
  3. At least three months' notice of the date and place of the
    sale shall be given by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, by
    advertisement in at least one newspaper circulating in Canter-
    bury, such notice to be repeated at least once at an interval of
    not less than a fortnight after the first publication thereof; and
    sale-plans of the said lands shall, during at least one month
    preceding the date of sale, be exhibited in the Survey Office,
    Christchurch, for public inspection.
  4. No one shall be entitled to purchase more than one section
    of land in either Schedule I. or Schedule II.
  5. Sections sixty, sixty-one, sixty-three, sixty-four, sixty-five
    sixty-six, sixty-seven, sixty-eight, sixty-nine, seventy, seventy-
    one, seventy-two, and seventy-three of "The Land Act, 1877,"
    and sections eight and nine of "The Land Act 1877 Amend-
    ment Act, 1879," shall apply to the lands enumerated in
    Schedule II. hereto, so far as they are consistent with these
    conditions.
  6. Each purchaser will be required to make the declaration
    prescribed by section sixty-two of "The Land Act, 1877,"
    before receiving his license.
  7. Each purchaser of one of the deferred-payment sections
    enumerated in Schedule II. hereto shall, immediately after the
    sale, pay one-tenth of the purchase-money to the Receiver of
    Land Revenue for Canterbury, which payment shall be deemed
    to be a discharge of the license-fee due on the first day of July,
    one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.
  8. The purchaser of any lands described in Schedule I., upon
    the full payment of the purchase-money, and the purchaser of
    any lands described in Schedule II., upon the like payment, and
    also the fulfilment of the terms and conditions prescribed by
    "The Land Act, 1877," and "The Land Act 1877 Amendment
    Act, 1879," and "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882,"
    relating to land on deferred payments, will be entitled to his
    Crown grant, to be issued in the usual way upon payment of the
    fees prescribed by law.

April, 1883.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in
anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the
Government work known as the West Coast Road shall and
may be constructed on or through the several parcels of land
more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and de-
lineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 9925, deposited in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that road-line commencing at a point in the north-eastern
boundary of the Waitangi Block, and continuing generally in a
north-westerly direction for 5844 links to the south-western
boundary of the Makarau Block, and containing by admeasure-
ment 5 acres 3 roods 15 perches, more or less.

And again, all that road-line commencing at a point in the
western boundary of the Makarau Block, and continuing gene-
rally in a north-westerly direction for 2427 links to the south-
eastern boundary of the Tuhirangi Block, and containing by
admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 28 perches, more or less.

And again, all that road-line commencing at a point in the
northern boundary of the Tuhirangi Block, and continuing
generally in a northerly direction for 15743 links to the south-
east corner of Lot No. 110, Parish of Komokoriki, and containing
by admeasurement 15 acres 2 roods 38 perches, more or less;
the above parcels of land being situate in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Auckland; as the same is delineated on the plan marked
P.W.D. 9925, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
