Defining a District under "The Thermal-Springs Districts
Act, 1881."
there has been constructed within such mining district a water-
race, called the Mikonui Water-race:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
hereinbefore recited Act, and of every other power or authority
in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the lands described in the First Schedule
hereto shall be and the same are hereby declared to be a
water-race under the name of the Mikonui Water-race; and
by the like authority I do hereby declare that the several
streams specified in the Second Schedule hereto shall be and
the same are hereby taken for the purpose of supplying the
said Mikonui Water-race; as the said lands and streams are
shown on a map marked P.W.D. 9869, deposited in the War-
den's Court at Ross, in the said Westland Mining District.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
42 acres 3 roods 38 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Totara, Provincial District of Westland, com-
mencing at a point on the north side of Donnelly's Creek, the
same being 25550 links south and 63880 links west of the
Initial Geodesical Station of Hokitika Survey Circuit, in the
said Provincial District of Westland. Bounded-Easterly by a
line, 122 links; generally Northerly by lines, 340, 1006, 507,
430, 846, 596, 214, and 179 links respectively; generally
Easterly by lines, 1865, 45, 3559, 83, and 4849 links re-
spectively; Westerly by a line, 56 links; Northerly by a line,
223 links; generally Easterly by lines, 1904, 174, 421, 256,
and 576 links respectively; Northerly by a line, 40 links;
generally Easterly by lines, 161 and 861 links respectively;
Southerly by a line, 15 links; generally Easterly by lines, 1007
and 367 links respectively; Southerly by a line, 129 links;
Easterly by a line, 487 links; Northerly by boundary of Mining
Lease No. 623, 463 links; Easterly by boundary of Mining
Lease No. 623, 98 links; Northerly by boundary of Mining
Lease No. T649, 195 links; generally Westerly by lines, 514,
293, 298, 1077, 850, 132, 558, 221, 484, 296, and 2151 links
respectively; Southerly by a line, 189 links; Easterly by a
line, 70 links; generally Westerly by lines, 4600, 71, 3544, 49,
and 2002 links respectively; generally Southerly by lines, 315,
355, 498, 779, 475, 421, 1100, and 331 links respectively;
Easterly by a line, 122 links, to the commencing point: save
and excepting any land granted for water-races or other mining
pur, oses at the date of this Proclamation, and included within
the above area.
Also that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 11 acres 1 rood 15 perches, more or less, situate in the
: Survey District of Totara, Provincial District of Westland,
commencing at the western boundary of mining lease
formerly known as T671, the same being 9106 links south and
72779 links west of the Initial Geodesical Station of Hoki-
tika Survey Circuit, in the said Provincial District of Westland.
Bounded-Easterly by boundary of said mining lease, 151 links;
generally Northerly by lines, 460, 364, 720, 151, 419, 336, 804,
and 705 links respectively; South-westerly by a line, 300 links;
generally Southerly by lines, 499, 699, 296, 440, 168, 719, 387,
and 388 links respectively; Easterly by boundary of said min-
ing lease, 151 links, to commencing point: save and excepting
any land granted for water-races or other mining purposes at
the date of this Proclamation, and included within the above
area, the above area and linkages being either more or less: as
the said several parcels of land are more particularly shown and
delineated on a plan marked P.W.D. 9869, deposited in the
Warden's Court, at Ross, in the County of Westland.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
THE streams of water intended to be taken for the purpose of
supplying the said water-race are Donnelly's Creek, Stony
Creek, Tunnel Creek, Scandinavian Creek, Jones Creek, and all
their tributaries; save and except any prior rights already
granted and held at the date of this Proclamation; the said
streams being shown on plan deposited as above.

Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-third day of April, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The Thermal-Springs
Districts Act, 1881," it is, among other things, enacted
that the Governor may issue Proclamations from time to time
defining districts of the colony to be subject to the said Act,
being localities in which there are considerable numbers of the
ngawha, waiariki, or hot or mineral springs, lakes, rivers, or
waters: And whereas by the said Act is also enacted that,
until otherwise ordered by the General Assembly, the said Act
shall be in force within the Counties of Tauranga and East
Taupo only: And whereas the territory described in the
Schedule hereto is situate in the said County of East Taupo,
and is a locality in which there are considerable numbers of
ngawha, waiariki, or hot or mineral springs, lakes, rivers, and
waters, and it is expedient that such territory should be defined
as a district subject to the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the herein-
before in part recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the portion of the said colony described in the Schedule hereto,
being a locality in which there are considerable numbers of the
ngawha, waiariki, or hot or mineral springs, lakes, rivers, and
waters, shall be and the same is hereby defined to be a district
subject to "The Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881."
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing about 10,500 acres, more or
less, situate in the County of East Taupo, and bounded towards
the North by the Waikato River, from the Wairakei Stream to
the Parariki Stream; towards the South-east by the Parariki
Stream, the Kaingaroa No. 2 West No. 1 Block, and the
Kaingaroa West No. 2 Block to Hippaua Hill; and towards the
South-west by Tauhara Middle Block and the Thermal-Springs
District, proclaimed the 24th October, 1881, to the Waikato
River at the Wairakei Stream.
All that parcel of land containing about 1875 acres, more or
less, situate in the County of East Taupo, and bounded
towards the North by Taupo Moana; towards the East by
a line running due south from the mouth of the Tonga-
riro (Waikato) River for a distance of three miles; thence
towards the South by a line running due west to the boun-
dary of West Taupo County; and towards the West by
West Taupo County to Lake Taupo.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of "The Licensing Act,
1881," it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as
conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act,
by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define
districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from
time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the
same: And whereas it is expedient to alter and redefine the
boundaries of the District of Rotorua:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by
the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Rotorua
District, which shall henceforth be those described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
BOUNDED towards the North by the ocean; thence towards the
North-west and again towards the North by the Waimapu
Licensing District; thence towards the West by Te Aroha
