I HEREBY give public notice that, at a poll of the burgesses
taken in the Town Hall, on Monday, the 2nd April, 1883, for
the purpose of raising a special loan of £1,000, in order to receive
the Government grant of £2,000 towards carrying out the
drainage-works and tailings channel, as provided by Mr. Smaill's
plan, the result was-

The number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal
being in excess of half the total number of burgesses, I hereby
declare the proposal duly carried.

By-laws for Slaughterhouses in County of Collingwood.

T HE following by-laws for slaughterhouses in the County of
Collingwood are published in accordance with "The
Slaughterhouses Act, 1877."
THOMAS DICK.
COUNTY OF COLLINGWOOD BY-LAWS.
T HE Collingwood County Council having, in pursuance of
"The Counties Act, 1876," and "The Slaughterhouses Act,
1877," made, by special order, the following by-laws and
regulations for the County of Collingwood, I hereby give notice
that they will come into force from and after the 1st day of
January, 1883.
- The fees for a license for a slaughterhouse shall be the
following, namely:-
For a license to slaughter large cattle only ... £0 10 0
For a license to slaughter small cattle only ... 0 10 0
For a license to slaughter both large and small
cattle ... 1 0 0

Any Inspector may ask, demand, and receive from every
person holding such a license as aforesaid a fee of one half-
penny for each and every head of small cattle, and a fee of
threepence for each and every head of large cattle slaughtered
at the slaughterhouse kept by him; such fees to be payable the
first Monday in each month. -
The Inspector shall from time to time inspect every
slaughterhouse within the county, and may give directions to
the licensed keeper thereof concerning the cleanliness and good
management thereof; and every such licensed keeper shall forth-
with obey and carry out every such direction. -
Every licensed keeper of a slaughterhouse shall provide
his slaughterhouse with a sufficient supply of water. -
Every licensed keeper of a slaughterhouse shall remove
all filth, dirt, and offal from his slaughterhouse, and keep the
same clean and in good order to the satisfaction of the
Inspector. -
No licensed keeper of a slaughterhouse shall keep or per-
mit to be kept any swine in his slaughterhouse, or so near
thereto as to interfere with the cleanliness or good management
thereof. -
The interpretation sections of the before-mentioned Acts
are hereby adopted, mutatis mutandis, as if they were set forth
herein, and the words of these by-laws shall be construed to
have the meaning thereby assigned to the corresponding words
in the said Acts respectively, unless there be something in the
context or subject-matter repugnant thereto. -
Any persons offending against any of the provisions of these
by-laws, or committing any breach thereof, shall be liable to a
penalty not exceeding five pounds for every such offence.
