Defining the Middle Line of further Portion of the Foxton-
New Plymouth Railway (Patea Station Water-Supply).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the line of railway from Foxton to New Ply-
mouth is one of the railways specified in the First
Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is
in the seventh section thereof declared to be a special Act
authorizing the construction of such railway; and the same is
unfinished, and it has been determined to construct and main-
tain a further portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the
aforesaid section seven of "The Public Works Act, 1879," and
by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882," and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of
the said further portion of the said railway shall be from a
point in the Patea Station to a point in Section number one
hundred and seven, all within the Carlyle Survey District, Pro-
vincial District of Taranaki, as defined and set forth in the
Schedule hereto. The said middle line and the land through
which the same passes are set forth in the map and plan
marked P.W.D. 9902, and authenticated for the purposes of
this Proclamation by the signature of the Honourable Walter
Woods Jolinston, the Minister for Public Works, and which
said map and plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, in the Provincial
District of Taranaki.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point 2 miles 59 chains on the centre line of
railway, as described in a Proclamation dated the 20th April,
1880, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, of
the 22nd April, 1880; proceeding thence in a generally easterly
direction for a distance of 30 chains; passing in, through, or
over Sections Nos. 112, 113, and 107, Carlyle Survey District,
and terminating at a point in Section No. 107 aforesaid, all
within the Provincial District of Taranaki, Colony of New
Zealand; and including all adjoining and intervening places,
lands, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the
manner delineated on plan marked P.W.D. 9902, signed by the
Hon. Walter Johnston, Minister for Public Works, and de-
posited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
New Plymouth, in the Provincial District of Taranaki; the
total distance being 30 chains or thereabouts.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this second day of April, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS portions of certain railways were proclaimed in
the New Zealand Gazettes of the thirtieth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, and
the twentieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three, and the eighth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-four, and the fourth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, under the name
of the Napier to Waipukurau Railway, and also in the New
Zealand Gazettes of the thirty-first day of December, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-four, and the twelfth day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, under the
name of the Waipukurau to Manawatu Railway, and the said
railways now form part of the Wellington-Napier Railway:
And whereas by Proclamations issued under the authority
of sections one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred and
twenty-three, and one hundred and twenty-four of "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and published in the New Zealand
Gazettes of the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, and the twenty-sixth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, the middle
lines of portions of the railway from Napier to its junction
with the railway from New Plymouth to Waitara at Sentry
Hill, passing by Pakipaki, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Takapau,
and the railway from Wellington to Napier, being railways
specified in "The Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public
Works Act, 1879," respectively, were defined: And whereas
pursuant to the one hundred and twenty-fifth section of "The
Works Act, 1876," the Minister for Public Works has
caused to be made and, on the seventh day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, and the sixteenth day
of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, caused to
be deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court
at Napier, in the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, such
maps and plans as were necessary to explain the said por-
