AT a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay County Council, held on the
19th day of March, 1883, the following resolution was duly
passed :--
Resolved, The resolution passed at a special meeting of this
Council, held on the 12th day of February last, adopting the
by-law as hereafter set out be construed.
Passed by the County Council of Hawke’s Bay, this 19th day
of March, 1883.

Resolved, That the following be By-law No. 7 :--
A BY-~AW to prohibithe running at large of Pigs and
Goats within the County of Hawke’s Bay.
In pursuance of the provisions of "The Counties Act, 1876,"
and "The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882/’ the
County Council of Hawke’s Bay do order as follows, that is to
says :--

  1. Any pigs or goats found running at large may be im pounded by any person in any public pound or in any enclosure
    specially appointed for the purpose by the Council, and publicly
    not/fled. Such enclosure shall, for the purpose of this by-law
    only, be deemed a public pound, and the like fees and damages
    shall be payable in respect of any pigs or goats impounded
    therein as in the case of a public pound.
  2. The owner of any pig or goat found running at large shall
    be deemed guilty of an offence, and shall, upon conviction,
    forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding £1 for every pig or goat
    so found running at large, to be recovered it~ the manner pro. vided by the 208th section of "The Counties Act, 1876."
    I hereby certify that the above 1~o. 7 By-law has been duly
    made.

    of the Borough of Queenstown, ispublished in accordance
    with section 145 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

    on the 14th March, 1883, in the Town Hall, Queenstown, to
    decide whether the burgesses of Queenstown are favourable or
    otherwise for the Council to borrow the sum of three thousand
    :~Fv hundred Founds sferling o~2 the security of the general
    rates and a special rate, for the purpose of constructing water works for supplying the borough with water, the following
    votes were recorded :--
    For the proposal ......... 76
    Against the proposal ......... 10
    There being 105 burgesses on the roll, and, as the number of
    votes given for the proposal exceed one-half of the total number
    of burgesses, l have declared the proposal carried.

OTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses will be
paid on articles produced in the Colony of l~ew Zealand,
as under :--
S~x.
A bonus of fifty per cent. on the value realized for the first
thousand pounds’ (£1,000) worth of cocoons of the silkworm,
or silkworms’ eggs, produced in the colony, to be paid on quan tities of not less value than fifty pounds (£50) nor more than
one hundred pounds (£100) produced by any one person.
]~AI~GANEISEI~ AND MAIWGANESE-BRONZE.
A bonus of i~ve hundred pounds (£500) will be given for the
first two thousand five hundred pounds’ (£2,500) worth of man ganeisen, and a similar bonus for a like amount of manganese bronze, produced in the colony from New Zealand ores, and
sold at a fair market price in a foreign market.
~AI~nLE.
A bonus of three hundred pounds (£3(90) will be given
the first fifteen hundred pounds’ (£1,500) worth of 5Iew Zea land marble exported from the colony, and sold in a foreign
market at a price of not loss than 9s. per cubic foot.
ANTI~ONY.
A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be given for the
first 250 tons of antimony regulus produced in the colony from
New Zealand ores, and sold at a fair market price in a foreign
market.
Conditions.

  1. ~otiee of in,end;ion to claim any of the above bonuses
    must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later
    than the 31st December, 1883.
  2. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1884.
  3. The first claimant of any bonus who proves to the satis faction of the Government that tie has fulfilled all the condi tions to be the recipient of the bonus.
  4. The other conditions as to quantity, priority, quality, and
    value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed
    for the purpose by the Government.
    Further information and particulars may be obtained by
    application at the Colonial Secretary’s Office.
    IJ~IBOUG-IIT-II~02I.
    A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be given for
    the production, in New Zealand, by a direct process, of 200
    tons of "iron blooms," of marketable quality, from ore produced
    in New Zealand.
    Condition, s.
  5. The bonus not to be given for any quantity Iess than 100
    tons.
  6. :Notice of the intention to erect ironworks and claim the
    bonus must be given to the Colonial Secretary before the 31st
    December, 1883.
  7. The bonus must be claimed before the 81st December,
  8. In the even~ of more than one claimant giving such
    notice, not more than seven-tenths of the bonus may be claimed
    by the first producer, and not more than three-tenths by the
    second producer ; but if only one claimant becomes aproducer
    on the above conditions, he may claim the whole of the bonus.
  9. The iron in respect of which any bonus is claimed, and
    the ore from which it is manufactured, will be examined by an
    officer to be appointed by the Government, who may require
    the production of bond.fide account-sales of quantities not less
    ~hau 100 tons weigh~, showing tha~ such iron has been sold a~
    a fair market price as wrought-iron,
