Officiating Ministers for 1883.—Notice No. 3.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, passed in the forty-fourth year
of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and intituled
"The Marriage Act, 1880," the following name of an Officiating
Minister within the meaning of the said Act is published for
general information :-

Latin and Greek Subjects for Civil Service Examination,
April and October, 1884.

THE following are the Latin and Greek subjects for the April
and October examinations, 1884 :-
LATIN. Horace, Odes, Books I. and II.; Sallust, Cataline.
GREEK.-Xenophon, Cyropædia, Books I. and II.
N.B.-Candidates who take up Latin will have to pass in
both verse and prose author.

Examination for the Civil Service of India.

Education Department,
Wellington, 29th January, 1883.

ON the 1st June, 1883, and following days, an Examination,
open to all qualified persons, will be held in London.
Persons desirous to be admitted as candidates must apply on
forms, which may be obtained from "The Secretary, Civil Ser-
vice Commission, London, S.W.," or from the undersigned.
The forms must be returned so as to be received at the office of
the Civil Service Commissioners in London on or before the
31st March, 1883.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE.—JOHN EDWARD SHAW, of 4, New Inn, Strand,
London, a Solicitor of England, has been appointed this day, by his Honour the Chief
Justice, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand
in London aforesaid, under "The Commissioners of the Supreme
Court Act, 1875," for the purpose of administering and taking all
such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said Act
mentioned.

Leases of Southland Runs to be Sold by Auction.

THE following Licenses of Runs, for a term of ten years,
from the 1st March next, will be offered by auction, at the
Land Office, Invercargill, at noon on Wednesday, the 28th
February next, under the general conditions contained in "The
Land Act, 1877," and "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1879:"-

Run 154A, about 1,008 acres, adjoining Run 154, Avondale,
Southland County, Taringatura District. Upset rent (2d. per
acre), £8 8s. per annum. License fee, £5.

Run 302, about 7,050 acres, known as Eyre Creek, Southland
County, Eyre District. Upset rent (1½d. per acre), £49 1s. 3d.
License fee, £7 10s.

Run 415A, about 7,500 acres, adjoining Run 173, Black-
mount, Wallace County, Takitimo District. Upset rent (d.
per acre), £15 12s. 6d. License fee, £7 10s.

Run 415B, about 4,300 acres, adjoining Run 166A, Bellmont,
Wallace County, Takitimo District. Upset rent (d. per acre),
£8 19s. 2d. License fee, £5.

Run 143, about 6,550 acres, adjoining Birchwood Estate,
Wallace County, Wairio District. Upset rent (2d. per acre),
£54 11s. 8d. License fee, £7 10s.

Plans showing boundaries can be seen at the Survey Office,
Invercargill. Further particulars to be obtained on inquiry at
the Land Office.
