The following remarks apply only to the above four principal boroughs :—
The births were 279 in November, against 331 in October, a decrease of 52. The deaths in November were 83,
against 121 in October, a decrease of 38.
There were 7 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: two females of 76 and 69 died at Auckland; three females
of 82, 73, and 70 at Wellington; a male of 91 at Christchurch; and a male of 71 at Dunedin.
Zymotic Diseases. The number of deaths from these causes in the four principal boroughs fell from 32 in October to
18 in November. The decrease was caused chiefly by a lesser mortality from whooping-cough in the latter month—5
deaths, against 18 in October. Of these 5 deaths, 3 occurred in Dunedin, against 12 in October. There was 1 death
from scarlet fever last month at Auckland.
Constitutional Diseases.—These complaints resulted in 13 deaths during November, against 17 in the previous month.
